Chapter 4: First Heartbreak

-Macey's POV-

I was walking along the building hall in a fast pace, trying to avoid the guy who kept following me all the time.

"Macey!! Wait up!".. Aaarghh!! There he is again! I almost run just to avoid him but he's faster. He grabbed my arm and turned me to face him.

"Kurt what do you want?!", I hissed.

"Let's have lunch outside the school. I know a great place.", he said and pulled me.

I yanked my hand back. "I don't want to. When will you stop pestering me?"

"I am not pestering you. I'm courting you."

"Well then.. I don't want to be courted by you.", I said and turned my back on him for the nth time.

I was just like...four steps away from him when he called me. "Just one date, please? After this, I will not talk to you anymore nor come near you."

"Is that true?", I faced him. He nodded. "Well then....just this one and I don't want to see your face anymore tomorrow. You're giving me headaches."

And so I went with him to a cafe just near the school. To my surprise, I saw Zed there, dating a girl. And he seems to be enjoying his time.

I felt betrayed. I thought we have something. I mean, after our first kiss, which was two years ago, we became closer. He's sweet and caring. And he always protects me in any way he can. Yet here he is, dating a girl.

I walked to his table. "Hi Zed! Didn't know your on a date. Are you enjoying so far?", I said in a bitchy tone.

He was surprised. It's very evident. "Macey! Why are you here??", he asked what sounds to me a very stupid question from a guy caught cheating by his girlfriend.

Oh yeah! I forgot about Kurt. Might as well use him as an advantage. "Oh, I'm on a date too. Have you met Kurt?"

And Zed's expression turned dark as soon as he heard the name. Of course he knows about Kurt.

"Uhmm.. Would you mind introducing her to me Zed?", the girl said ruining our convo. I just raised my brow on her.

"Yeah right. How rude of me? Ria, this is Macey, my STEPSISTER.".. And he really emphasized that last word?

*Yeah...his stepsister whom he makes out with.* I felt a sting in my eyes. Oh no.. He can't see me cry. And so I turned around and wiped away the tears that were just forming and pulled the stupid-looking Kurt out of the cafe.

"Hey.. I can punch him for you, if you want.", he said jokingly.

"No need. But thanks. Just bring me home.", I said.

"You know.....you should have just told me that you're in love with someone else. That way, I might have not made a fool out of myself.", he said. I felt guilty.

Wait?.... Am I really in love with Zed?

"It's not as easy as you think. You heard him. And as if you don't know Zed.. You're team mates. If you're in my position, considering that you're a girl, wouldn't you want him to declare it first?"

He just shrugged. Nice! What a big help. I rolled my eyes at him.
