Camila's POV
(the italicized words mean that the event is in flashback, okay? okay.)
"Camila! Where the hell have you been? What happened?!" Dinah is panicking while bombarding questions at me and I just keep myself silent and ignore all her questions. She didn't give in though, she stopped me by touching my arm harshly so I stopped walking. "You have to tell me what happened, that's what we always do." She says in a pleading tone.
I remain my straight face. "Nothing."
Dinah carefully touches my arm and I halt any of my movements. "Did you see her?" I don't react and my best friend is still staring at me as if I've done something I would regret in no time. She sighs and her hand falls. "You've seen her."
Suddenly, I think I forgot how to speak.
"Who sees who?" A familiar voice says from behind. Dinah stares at me with wide eyes before looking back to the owner of the voice. "Oh mija! You're finally here!"
I gathered all my strength and did my best to fake a smile. My mother smiled at me back and hugged me. "I didn't see Austin around. I thought you're all together?" She asks and creases her brows.
"Uhm.... He... h-he had to go somewhere else for work, Sinu." Dinah answers for me and I just sigh once again for not being able to say something. I didn't even realize that my mother's going to visit. "Let's go inside, Sofi's waiting." And there's Sofi too.
This used to be a happy setting. I used to look forward to a gathering like this one especially before when Lauren always visited us and Sofia would be jumping with happiness. I used to love the idea of having the whole family around because we were complete. We used to be complete.
But now, Sofia is gone, she's never going to come back.
"Babe, how many kids would you like to have?" I seductive asked Lauren through a soft whisper in her ear and she suddenly stepped back and her eyes widened. I slapped her arm playfully. "I hate you. I'm just kidding okay. I'm not serious." I pouted.
"2 or 3." She silently answered when I was about to leave her all alone on the sofa. "The important thing is you're here and we're together. I don't care how many kids we'll have, nevertheless, I'll love them equally." She stated while looking straightly into my eyes and caressing my hand.
I stayed silent and completely satisfied just by returning her stare.
"I love you." She mouthed and my lips, in what seemed such a sweet rush, formed into a smile. She then hugged me and I could feel her fingertips playing with strands of my hair. "Why are you suddenly asking about kids? You haven't even asked me to marry you yet!" She panicked and laughed at the crook of my neck.
I giggled. "Who told you that I'm going to marry you?" I teased. She immediately released herself from the hug and glared at me while she crossed her arms.
"And who are you going to marry, Cabello?" She asked and patiently waited for my answer. I pretended to be thinking deeply as I looked away and I could feel from beside me that she was, in fact, smirking.
"I think I'd be single for a long time." I mocked once again and she just frowned. "Because the person I want to marry keeps me waiting for a long time." I winked at her and her facial features were serious.
She seemed like she was in a deep thinking state and suddenly the air between us changed.
I coughed, clearing my throat. "Uhm... are you okay?"
