Third person
The moon was high in the sky and there were no clouds. Which of course just made the full moon look more beautiful with all of it's star companions, which were twinkling in the night sky.
At the abandoned city WhiteWater a Shadow Ghost stepped out of the abandoned mineshaft. He looked up to the sky, his red eyes seeming to glow in the moons light. He brought his attention back to the ground and looked around.
He even concentrated on sensing any other life forms nearby. He couldn't find anything other then the common cricket making its beautiful sounds, or a bat flying after a moth.
He always did this, for he had made a deal with someone a while back. He had offered to stay away from him as long as he stayed away from him and his family, but not as enemy's. Of course the Shadow Ghost took the offer, probably because he's a Shadow Ghost and they just love making deals.
But there was another reason, and unknown reason, that not even he knew. 'It was just and instinct' he would tell himself but he always knew that there was something more to it.
He finally walked away from the mineshaft entrance and teleported to a thick dark oak wood forest. The trees were quite tall so all the leaves blocked out any light from reaching the ground. Which of course made it completely dark and made it almost impossible for anyone to see.
That of course didn't effect the Shadow Ghost, and he was able to walk through the forest with no problem. He walked with no emotion on his face, and he had his eyes locked forward.
But he was ready to fight anytime. A rustle of leaves filled the air, and it was loud. The Shadow Ghost stopped and narrowed his eyes to where the rustling took place. He made one of his arms solid and put his hand in the air, waiting for a breeze.
But there was nothing, there was no wind at all. He put his hand down, making his arm go back to a ghosts as he did so. He tried sensing other life forms, but not ones around where his home was. He was trying to sense other life's forms that were across the world.
That's where he was, so he had to be carful. Especially if it was another Shadow species, for they are the only ones who can harm him. His eyes darted over the thick forest, he couldn't find any other life forms and this worried him.
There was a loud cracking noise coming from behind him. A noise that comes from a falling tree. He slowly turned around only to be met with a giant tree falling in his direction. His eyes widened and he went to jump out of the way, but couldn't in time.
The tree hit the ground with a loud thump and it landed on the Shadow Ghosts arm. He stared at the tree that lay on his arm. He pulled his arm up and it came out of the tree. He snickered to himself. He sat down on the ground beside the tree and looked to the ground.
He chuckled to himself at his own stupidity, he was a Ghost, he can go through things like trees. He got back up, using the tree for support. He walked down to the bottom of the tree to see why it fell. All the roots were sticking up out of the ground and some of the earth came with it.
It didn't look rotten so there was no reason for it to fall. But that was when he noticed a shift in the earths ground. There was a giant crack in the ground that was where the tree use to be, and one side of the ground was sticking up a block high.
His eyes widened, it didn't make any sense. He didn't sense it coming and he didn't hear it. And even if it did crack a while ago he still should've been able to hear the ground rising, especially if it was enough to make a giant oak tree fall.
He looked at the crack in the earths dirt and rock. It kept going the way he was going, but stopped at the tree. He decided to follow the crack in the ground to see what was causing this.
He floated off the ground so he could pick up speed. There was more cracking that came from trees that was off in the distance. He looked over to see if it was close. He saw a silhouette of trees falling like domino's for no apparent reason. But as he kept flying he saw the ground rise at a unbelievable speed.
He gaped with a look of horror on his face. What was happening? He looked ahead of him and saw some light past a couple more trees. He kept flying until he finally got out of the thick forest.
He stopped himself in mid air stopping just like how someone would skid on the ground to stop. He looked to a small tunnel that was in he ground. He floated over to it and looked down the hole. It had collapsed and had rocks and dirt everywhere, blocking the entrance.
He sighed and looked at the ground, to find any evidence if the crack started here. He found a giant crack in the ground and floated over to it. He landed on the ground right beside the crack but immediately jumped up off the ground.
The ground was blazing hot. He floated about two blocks in the air, trying to keep his distance fro the scorching ground. He looked closely at the crack and noticed small puffs of smoke emerging from the uneven ground.
He had a concerned and scared look on his face. He floated over to a hill that wasn't to far away and landed there. It didn't have any cracks on it and it was a good distance away from the heat.
He looked around the nighttime scenery, thinking. Thinking of why he didn't sense anything, why he didn't hear anything, and why this was happening. It just didn't make sense to him.
He thought back to the last time he made a deal and not the recent one. It was with one of his friends, well used to be friend. He had made a deal with him to help him banish his brother. He regretted that deal so much he wish he never did it.
But when he made the deal the used to be friend had told him his plans. He shook his head. "Don't think about it." He whispered to himself repeatedly as he put his hands on his head.
When he stopped he looked back to the crack. More smoke came out of the crack and he could see the ground on the other side of the smoke moving out of the humidity. There was a loud but faint cracking noise which was followed by a thump.
He looked up to the forest. Something wasn't right.
