Chapter 4
Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter

I glance around at the scene in front of me and try my hardest not to gag. We had about ten dead rogue vampires and wolves combined on the ground around us and I was glaring intently at the leader of this group.
“My my, Isabella. It has been too long since I last saw you. You haven’t aged a day! I guess that could be because you’re a vampire like me. A vampire who killed my parents.” He speaks calmly while stoking a dagger.
Strange child.
“Oh Shane. I am still sorry that you had to witness that. Your father wasn’t a good man and your mother helped him commit treason and you just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. What are you actually doing here Shane?”
I could tell that my sympathy was only just going to anger him but kept using it anyway.
“Why kill all these people? Your just making it worse for yourself in the end.”
“You killed my parents. Killed my only loved ones. Now you are going to pay.”
“Are you really going to threaten me?” I say, my patience slowly thinning out.
“Of course! That’s what I am doing! I have taken out plenty of your men, but it didn’t help that you barely had any to begin with.”
I gave him a ‘are you serious’ look because my men were only mildly injured and healing as we speak. You know, vampires?
“I don’t care about them. They were just necessary in the sense that I needed to find out how strong you guys were so I could have a chance at having a go at you another time.”
I was about to reply to him when he disappears into the forest.
I didn’t fully comprehend what was gong on until a hand came down on my shoulder and steered me back towards the house. After a while my mover decided that this was too hard do they picked me up bridal style and carried me back to the house.
It was only then did I notice that I had a bullet wound in my stomach.
“That can’t be good now can it?” I ask to no one in particular.
“Mi Bella, how could you not know that there was a bullet hole in your stomach?” Blaze questions and it turns out that he was the one holding me. How could I have missed that as well? Oops.
“Trust me, when Isabella is in battle, she zones out and is really deadly. It is a wonder is she ever notices what happens to her as she is only ever focusing on her weak points so they cannot be used against her and what the opposition is doing.” Jace slightly hisses.
“Jace…” I mumble and my hands open and close a few times, giving off the impression that I wanted him to hold me. The sadness and hurt rolls off Blaze as I am transferred from his arms to those of Jace.
“Why are you wanting me to carry you?” Jace questions me.
“Well, because I know that when I ask you to set me down that you will actually do it.” He chuckles but sets me down on my feet. I wobble a bit at first but Jace is there to steady me.
I glance down once again and examine the bullet wound that does not seem to be closing itself.
“That smart bastard. He coated his bullets in silver nitrate.” I wince as I pull the bugger out with my claws. I hold it up for examination and saw that I was correct and I exhaled in relief as the wound began to heal.
