Chapter 2:
“We are never
Ever ever
Getting back together
Like, ever”
‘We are Never Getting Back Together’ Taylor Swift
"There coming here." Jace finishes under his breath.
My body had completely frozen.
Funny how they didn't even know that it was a vampire that had rejected me. They only had a vague idea who did it.
Sensing my distress, Jace came over to me and started massaging my shoulders. I lean into his touch and felt my bones starting to relax.
“Thank you for agreeing to help us. You have no idea how grateful me and my clan are.” The jerk says.
I nuzzle my face into Jace’s shoulder as the two talk and he rubs circles on my back reassuringly.
“That’s quite alright. Me and my clan are happy you came to us because, as you well know, we have the best fighters in the country and the best over all hunter. Our Beta has managed to attain that rank in the two years the Beta has been with us.” Jace brags.
“I hear he is very good. He managed to kill twenty rogues by himself with his bare hands. And fangs, of course.”
“Of course.” Jace says. Not mentioning that I’m a she, not a he.
“Is she your mate?” the man says, tilting his head toward me.
“No, she is my girlfriend and I love her very much. I do not have a mate. Do you have a mate?” Jace counters.
I look up to see Him bow his head and his face drains of colour.
“N-n.” He sighs. “No bother hiding the truth. Yes, I have a mate.”
My eyes widen in shock. Was he finally acknowledging that I was his mate?
“Where is she?” Jace asks in a strange voice.
“She’s dead.” He admits.
“Dead?”
“She died the night-“
“The night you rejected her?” Jace interrupts
“How did you know?”
Jace was about to answer but then thought better than it.
“Okay then. Where is he, your Beta?” HE asks.
Not taking it any longer, I speak up.
“SHE is right here.” I say, coming out from behind Jace’s back.
Every man in the room let out a wolf whistle.
But He chokes.
“Is there something wrong, sir?” I ask, my voice sickly sweet and one eyebrow raised.
“R-Rose?” He asks.
I roll my eyes and sigh.
“Iz, can I speak to you for a moment?” Scarlett asks me.
His eyes and shoulders droop in disappointment.
“Sure.” I say, walking over to her.
“Is that him?” She asks quietly.
I nod.
“Damn, he is HOT.”
“I know. And he rejected me.”
