‘These battle scars

Don’t look like there ever gonna way

They ain’t ever gonna change

These battle scars’

Battle scars – Guy Sebastian ft Lupe Fiasco

Everyone was staring at us, well me, in shock. Guess they didn’t expect that.

“Your mate?” Jamie spits.

“Yep.” I say, popping the ‘p’.

“But he rejected you.” She says with a victorious grin.

She turns to kiss Blaze but he gently pushed her off him, and started towards me.

“I will get you back, you are my mate for crying out loud. I made the biggest mistake of my life rejecting you and now I can get you back.” He says with sheer determination.

“Fat chance. I already have a boyfriend whom I love, as I have already said.” Even as I am saying the words, I could tell that Blaze is seeing right through them and doesn’t believe any of it.

A phone rings making us all jump from the tense atmosphere.

“Hello?” I say into the receiver.

“Thank Goodness you picked up. I tried everyone else but they went straight to voicemail.” The frantic girl on the other end says.

“Calm down Steph, what’s all the fuss about?” I ask as calmly as I could.

“There have been thirteen murders on the outskirts of Seattle. I know you are not far from there since your in Washington.” She blabs.

“Thirteen?” I ask, not really wanting to hear the answer.

“Well, there are more… The rogues are still on the loose and I believe they are heading your way.”

“There is more than one?”

“Yes.”

“Well, hell. How do you know there are more than one?”

“By the way the victims were killed and how the bodies were places. They are vicious and will kill anything in their way.”

“Wolf or Vampire?”

“Well, here’s the thing. We think both are working together. Oh, and five more have been killed.”

“You have got to be kidding me.” I say in a frightened tone and sat down on the couch.

Hard.

There was a screeching sound and a buzzing noise.

I waited a few moments as there was only silence on the other end.

“We managed to get a go at them and they are definitely working together.” Steph spoke up again.

“Ah, hell.” I say again but this time in no more than a whisper.

“We placed a tracker on one of them and they will be there in about 20 minutes.”

“Twenty?” I asked, feeling lightheaded.

“Yes. Tell everyone to be prepared for a fight.”

“But we have done nothing wrong.”

“Um, we recognized one of the men involved. He seemed to be the leader.” Steph says hesitantly, as if unsure I could handle the news.
