Siobhan's full service salon Strands is very hip, diverse and employed the best stylists.
Badhi is Indian, from India, and she waxes and threads like no one else. She's married to a black guy, Joe, and they have two children.
Cambris is my best friend and the receptionist of the salon. We have been friends since fifth grade. After a very hurtful breakup, she found herself on hard times. The salon business was just starting to boom, so I hired her and she's been with me ever since. She's a great asset to the salon. She makes sure all the clients are taken care of and appointments are properly scheduled and rescheduled.
Ulysses is a master stylist and fits the bill of what most people believe about male stylists. He's extremely flamboyant, excessively nosey and fun to be around. When he's not busy you can find him at Licia's station. Licia is our youngest stylist. She's gorgeous, extremely shapely and knows it. I think she's the reason we have so many men coming to get their haircuts from Preston.
Aaahh, Preston. My better half. Well, not yet. We are engaged though. Preston is our latest addition. He's a newly licensed barber. He's the ultimate eye candy. He looks like a work of art. Expertly chiseled, precisely and thoughtfully colored with all the fine details. He dresses well and smells great ALL the time. I jokingly asked him if cologne filled his veins. I'm a fortunate girl. All the women in the salon swoon over him, but he only has eyes for me.
Preston has filled a void in my life. He treats me so well. Unexpected surprises. Fine dining. Romantic gestures and PDA. I love him and can't wait to be his wife. Mrs. Siobhan Alexander.
My name is mispronounced all the time. It is an Irish name. It's pronounced Sha-Vone, not Shavon or Shabon. Vone, like phone, hone or tone.
My mom fell in love with that name and decided she would name her firstborn daughter that, even though we are no where near being Irish.I became a stylist about three years ago and opened my salon a year ago. I met Preston at a hair expo. We networked for a few months before he asked me out and it's been bliss ever since. We are not only a cute couple, but a power couple too. We both earn over six digits and we work well and hard together. We've made our salon the number one salon in Michigan.
We had just received word that we ranked #1 and we were so excited!!! That was the night he proposed to me.
"Let's celebrate!" Preston said as he grabbed me by my waist.
"OK, what do you want to do?" I asked, with the biggest smile on my face.
"How about...hmm...Ocean Prime and then dancing? Do you feel like dancing?" He spun me around Detroit Ballroom style. "I know you love to dance, baby!"
" Let's do it!" I kissed him. "I'm going to go change clothes. I'm so excited!!" I ran to my room and went into my small bedroom-sized closet. I found my sexy, form fitting black dress with the low cut back. I loved to feel Preston's warm hand on the small of my back. I chose my 5-inch strappy black Louboutin's and a small red clutch to match. I carefully pinned my hair up and applied my makeup like a pro. Sprayed Flowerbomb perfume on. Preston loved that scent on me. After an hour or so, I walked down the floating stairs we had installed in my condo.
"Preston? Preston? Where are you?" Surely, he was in the kitchen having a drink. "Hey babe, are you ready?" I asked as I walked into the kitchen. He wasn't there. I looked on the deck. No Preston. "Preston!?" I yelled. No answer. I walked to the living room to grab my phone off the charger. It wasn't there. However, a note was.
My dearest Siobhan,
I am so proud of what you have accomplished. You are such an inspiration to me and you've stolen my heart, and I'm ok with that. I love you babygirl. Grab your purse and head out front.Love forever,
P.A. AlexanderI opened the door and a black Bentley was running at the end of my driveway. The chauffeur jumped out and opened the back door.
"Good evening, Ms. Pointer. My name is Dan. You look exquisite."
Blushing, "Thank you!" I leaned in expecting to see Preston, but he wasn't there. "Dan, where are we headed?""We'll, Ms. Pointer, I am not allowed to divulge that information. You just sit back. Enjoy a glass of wine...or two and we will arrive at our destination in a few. I'm going to raise the partition and you just relax."
Before I could say anything, the partition was up. It was extremely dark. The tint on the back windows was so dark, nothing could be seen, in or out. Suddenly, a soft light turned on. I saw the wine glass and a wine bottle. I poured myself a drink and sat back, relishing in the moment with a smile on my face. 'We seriously could have gone to Ocean Prime together.' I thought and chuckled to myself. I was filled with happiness. Preston is a wonderful man and treats me like I know I deserve to be treated. I filled my glass with more Veuve Clicquot. I seriously love this man!! He never overlooks even the smallest of details.
The car came to a stop. Dan opened the door. "We've reached the destination, Ms. Pointer. Mr. Alexander is waiting for you inside." We were at Barclay Prime. It was new to the area, originally from Philadelphia. It was a very expensive place. I practically ran inside. The host graciously led me to where Preston was seated. He stood to pull my chair out.
"You look beautiful, sweetheart and you smell great." He stared at me as he placed his hand on the small of my back to guide me into my seat. "I want you to enjoy yourself. Order whatever you would like. Tonight is all about us." he stated matter of factly. He never stopped looking at me and it made me blush like a teenaged girl.
"Preston, you are wonderful. I love you dearly." I said without breaking my glare. "You never cease to amaze me and each time, it gets better and better."
"This is only the beginning. Look at this wonderful menu!!! I'm going for the satsuma wagyu ny strip steak. You?"
"I think I will go for the ribeye and foie gras cheesesteak. That sounds delicious."We ordered drinks and had gotten nice and toasty when the waiter asked if we wanted dessert. We settled on the chefs special. A round ball of chocolate was set in front of us, along with a small carafe of hot fudge. Preston poured the hot fudge over the chocolate ball and when it melted, there was a small box inside. I was confused.
"Open it." Preston instructed.I opened it and a it was a sparkling diamond ring that was being enhanced by the light inside the box. I looked at Preston.
"Siobhan, you mean the world to me. More than anything you could ever imagine. I promised you that this day would get better and the only way that is possible is..." he stood up from his chair and got down on one knee, " the only way that's possible is if you will continue to bless my world by being my wife. Will you marry me?"
I could barely contain myself. Most of the women were saying 'awww' and giving way to tears themselves.
"Of course, Preston. I definitely will. I love you!" I planted a big kiss on his mouth and we hugged for a long time as I nestled my face into his chest, inhaling the scent that would forever be by my side.
