Phil giggled, thrashing around as his older brother tickled him.

"Stop it!" He screamed

"Only because I have things to do, but I will be back, I swear" He glared, squinting his eyes, so did the younger boy, soon falling into a fit of giggles. Martyn left the room, the boy sighed, looking around at his bare room.

"Phillip! There's someone here to see you!" His mother's sweet voice interrupted his daydreaming. He grinned, walking through the house to see a boy who appeared younger than him.

"This is Daniel!"

"Hi Daniel!"

"Hi, Phillip"

The boys stared intently at each other, Phil examining the small boy, he had dark hair, and dark eyes, he had dark everything.

Dan examined the boy as well, eyes as blue as the sky, brighter even, he had bright hair, bright clothes, and the brightest smile Dan had ever seen.

"Why don't you boys go play outside" Phil's mum suggested, ushering the two boys to the door.

Once outside, Phil grabbed Dan's hand and ran. He ran all the way to the back yard. Both boys laughing as he did. As if on que, they collapsed on the uncut grass.

"How old are you, Danny" Phil whispered.

"6" he whispered back, "how old are you Philly?"

"10"

"Wow" Giggled Dan

"Yeah" Phil sighed, rolling over and propping his head on his palm. "So where's your house?"

Dan simply threw his hand back pointing towards a tall dark grey house across the street and one house down from Phil's.

"That's cool" Phil smiled

"Daniel! It's time to go!" Dan's mother shouted from the pavement, she was holding onto Adrian's carrier, him crying hysterically and a pained tired expression on his mother's face.

"Bye bye" Phil smiled, disappointed that his new friend had to go, but he smiled anyways.

"Bye" Dan grinned, running in the direction of his mum.

Phil then had a permanent smile etched onto his face, even as he went to dinner with his family, and even when he laid down that night. He couldn't stop thinking about the boy with the dark everything.
