I grasped the handle of the dagger with both hands to remove it from the head board, expecting it to come out at one pull so I ended up cursing like there's no tomorrow when it didn't budge, Zeta could throw, alright and somehow that realization rubbed me the wrong way, why is it that everybody seems better than me?

Why can't I be like Mael who can knock Godzilla just by knowing those dāmned pressure points or Zeta who can flay a beast with finesse or Joseph who can kill a werewolf by playing with its blind spots or...or my sister.

God, my sister, she's all things good, she knew her way inside the forest and rumor had it that she's one of the best tracker our clan have ever known, she's also a genius with traps and lures that's why nobody was suprised when she came out top of her batch during training, it was because of that she was rewarded one of those fancy blessed silver daggers.

How can a hunter of her caliber be bitten then?

I have my suspicions but they are yet to be confirmed.

Maybe she was injured or maybe no one was watching her back or maybe because she was not feeling well, I vaguely remember the last days I spent with her and those days she was terribly ill, but I doubt if anyone else knew because Klarisse always had her game face on, she was always composed and poised to fight. It was only when she thought no one was watching that she will let her guard down and I was always watching.

I've tried to talk her out of hunting when I noticed the changes but she just smiled at me before firmly shaking her head in refusal...looking back I wish I tried harder.

And I wish I've been there to hold her hand...I wish I've been there to convince her to go againts the code that we live by because I'm certain that my sister would still be there, through her will I know she will overpower the beast, to hell with the code, I just want my sister back.

But its too late now, I guess and my only remaining option to ease this gnawing feeling in my chest was to capture that lycan who had the audacity to bite her. Just thinking of the ways to inflict pain on the ruthless beast made my hands twitch.

"Do you need help with that one?" Startled, I whipped around and saw Joseph leaning againts the door frame of my bedroom door

"N-No, I...I got this." I mumbled before grabbing the handle, but it still wouldn't budge

"Dâmn." I muttered out of exasperation until I felt strong hands wrap around my own, and those strong hands guided me. The dagger was disengaged from the headboard faster than I can draw a breath.

"There, all done." He smiled

I nodded, at a lost of what to say.

"Do you have everything that you need?" He asked, appraising me from head to foot with the precision of a hunting falcon.

Again, I nodded.

"Good." He said before grabbing my hand and leading me downstairs
