"That's really cool!" I gasped as my sister, Klarise unsheathed a shiny object from her holster
"I know, and really deadly." She said mimicking dad's stern voice, I can't help but giggle."You should give it a name!" I suggested eagerly as I reached a tiny finger to touch to cool surface "Hmm...what do you have in mind?" She asked absentmindedly tracing the letters engraved on the blade.
"Crystal!" I said while throwing my fist above my head.
"Cute." Klarise smiled at me before ruffling my hair
"Tell me you liked it!" I demanded while fixing my pigtails "I love it, and from now on, everyone shall call this knife- crystal." She announced using dad's patented voice that we both burst out laughing"Klarise?" Mom poked her head in the doorway and when she saw us, I witnessed a shift in her eyes-it looked tender and warm but it quickly disappeared just like the cookies in the pantry.
"Time to go." She mumbled coldly, my sister turned to me and kissed my forehead.
"Bye, Kal."
"You're coming back for me right? It will be really boring without you here." I whispered in her ear conspirationally
"Ofcourse."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
...
"Klarisse!" I bolted downstairs when I saw the black van pulled into the driveway. I've been waiting for my sister for three days now- I've been sick with worry because I knew the dangers that lies at the heart of the forest, and No, I'm not referring to cougars and venomous snakes- there are things that are far more deadlier than them and I'm just so glad to have my sister back.
My bouncy steps halted the moment I hit the living room were people are quickly trickling in, there was Joseph and his older brother Mael, My cousins Juno and Zeta then my father and a couple of other hunters that I don't know by name...I eagerly waited for my sister to appear on the threshhold...yet she didn't.
And that's when I noticed it, their
dejected looks and nasty injuries, I was just about to ask my sister's whereabouts but I was rudely shoved out of the way by my mother who was carrying medical supplies."Klarisse?" With my heart wildly thumping in my chest, I ignored all of them to look for her outside, hoping againts hope that maybe she's just sorting the weapons on the van, but even before I yanked the door open, I already knew the answer.
I was on fire when I headed back onto the house to demand where my sister is, "Where is she?"
"She's gone" Said my Father without even batting an eyelash and that's when I lost it.
