The next morning was hell; Tyler had slept through his alarm, and was woken up to his younger sister yelling at him. "Tyler! You gotta get up! We have to get to school!"

The disgruntled boy rolled out of bed, throwing off the t-shirt he slept in and grabbed another that was lying on the floor. He sniffed it, and grunted as it seemed mostly clean. Grabbing a pair of black jeans from his floor, he ran a hand through his bedhead, not bothering with it. It never looked done, even when he attempted to do it.

He stumbled out the door, to the bathroom, with his black backpack hanging from one shoulder, as he quickly brushed his teeth and put on deodorant. Even though he couldn't open his eyes, he didn't want to smell like the rest of his basketball team usually did.

"Come on!" His younger sister, Amelia, yelled. He spit out the toothpaste and resisted the urge to yell back at her.

He quickly made his way downstairs, slipping on his Vans and seeing his other siblings sitting at the kitchen table, Amelia applying lip-gloss.

"You're fourteen, why're you wearing makeup?" Tyler asked, a bit harsher then he had intended, causing the girl to glare at him. "Shut up," she mumbled, before standing up.

"Hey, wait! Tyler, Amelia, you guys want breakfast?"

Tyler turned to see his father Chris, in his suit and tie, as he flipped a pancake on the portable griddle. "Um, nah. We gotta go, I guess." Tyler mumbled, and Chris nodded.

"Have a good day, guys. Oh, and Tyler? If you don't have basketball today, I'll need you to take the girls to soccer," He said, as the brunet nodded. "Yeah, Dad. Bye," he waved, as Amelia huffed and ran out to the teenager's '94 Camry.

The ride to school was silent, with the exception of The Killer's 'Hot Fuss' album streaming through the aux cord from Tyler's phone. The siblings said nothing to each other, as Amelia tapped away on her phone, giggling occasionally. "Who're you texting?" Tyler asked, teasing a bit as Amelia whipped her head up.

"Just Jake," she said, smiling as Tyler raised an eyebrow. "Jake? Do I need to fight him?" He asked playfully, making Amelia gasp and swat Tyler's shoulder. "No! Don't talk to him!"

"What, am I embarrassing, Mia?" Tyler asked, faking innocence, as she glanced at him. "Yes."

Tyler scoffed and continued driving, not saying a word as Amelia tucked her phone away. Tyler turned the volume up when he heard the starting notes of 'Andy, You're a Star,' causing Amelia to groan quietly but she stayed silent.

The minute Tyler pulled into a parking spot, Amelia dashed away, scampering off to find her friends, leaving Tyler to walk to his locker alone. He liked it better that way.

As he walked, he sighed and scrubbed his face, watching as people glanced at him and whispered quietly.

Tyler had a bit of a reputation around school — he was known to have a bit of an unpredictable temper, and had gotten into a few fights due to people threatening him or people he loved. He was the captain of the basketball team, and had been for the past two semesters — no one questioned his talent anymore. The coach knew him by name, and Tyler knew he was basically guaranteed a scholarship at Ohio State.

"Hey, Joseph!"

Tyler's attention snapped forward, seeing the tall, wide-foreheaded boy from his team...Brandon? Tyler couldn't remember.

"You comin' to practice later? Coach missed ya last time," he said, tapping Tyler's shoulder, making the boy tense. 'Brandon' looked at Tyler with a strange expression, but took his hand away. "Yeah, I will. Thanks, man," he mumbled, brushing past the taller boy quickly.

Tyler went to his locker, opening it tiredly, and grabbing what he needed for his first period.

Tyler's day was ordinary, to say the least. At 2:30, he trudged to the locker rooms, and groaned softly when he heard the shouting of his team. He stared straight ahead, as boys around him were joking and changing into their uniforms.

"Hey, Ty."

Tyler turned to see Josh, his best friend, and for the first time that day, the brunet genuinely smiled. "Hey, man."

Josh nudged Tyler jokingly as he opened his locker, Tyler mimicking his actions. "So, what'd you get on that Stats test? It kicked my ass," Josh said, chuckling softly as Tyler nodded in agreement.

"I got like, 73%. I fuckin' hate Math," Tyler groaned, as Josh looked at his friend. "Hey, didn't you and Jenna study together?"

Tyler shook his head and put on his jersey. "She was busy," he said, frowning slightly as Josh cooed sarcastically. "Aw, Ty couldn't see his girlfriend."

"Fuck off," was Tyler's reply, which caused Josh to laugh and watch as his best friend sauntered away, towards the gym.

An hour later of pressing drills, Tyler jogged half-heartedly to the locker room, to change. As he dressed in his all-black apparel, he checked his phone that was in his bag.

Tyler chuckled, and tucked his phone away, as the guy from this morning — Tyler had remembered that his name was Brendon — ran into him. "Hey, Joseph! We're gonna go to Jack's to chill. Wanna come with?"

Tyler shook his head. "I'm gonna go meet my girlfriend. Sorry," he said, as Brendon smiled knowingly. "Got a study date? Yeah, go ahead, man," Brendon said, smirking as he wiggled his eyebrows. Tyler scoffed and walked away.

He walked out to his car, to see his blonde girlfriend leaning against it. "Ty!" she exclaimed excitedly, when she saw him. He smiled instantaneously, as she ran up to him and hugged him tightly.

"I missed you in Stats today," Tyler mumbled, kissed her cheek. She giggled softly, before resting her head on his chest. "I was doing something for Peterson. She wants me to be on the Community of Caring board, so I was helping them plan something for this weekend," She said, and he nodded.

"Hmph. Well, I need your genius to help me do the homework," He said defiantly.

"You're going to hold me prisoner because I was being a nice person?" She asked, jokingly, and he chuckled, pulling her close. "Mhmm," he hummed, before kissing her sweetly.

"Now, come on, missy. Let's go study," he chuckled, and Jenna rolled her eyes. "Are we even gonna study?"

Tyler looked at her, his lips in a thin smirk. "Mm, nope."
