Tyler's house was big. He knew this. It was a bit ridiculous and, to be honest, he hated it. This is what he got, though, with having a dad who had a high-paying job and a lot of little sisters. He shouldn't be ungrateful, he knew, but it always felt empty whenever his sisters weren't there, though, which was often.
So, Jenna came over a lot, to keep him company.
"You hungry?" Tyler called as he walked into the kitchen, as Jenna followed him in from where they had been going over Statistics — as promised. Jenna shrugged, and leaned against the granite countertop, as Tyler took out a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter, quickly making a sandwich.
"We have to study," Jenna said, pointedly, as Tyler looked up and smiled, his mouth full of sandwich.
"I'm eating," he said, but it was muffled due to the food in his mouth. Jenna grimaced. "You're so gross."
Tyler smiled and continued eating, before opening the fridge and taking out a carton of milk. He made a noise that was probably supposed to ask Jenna if she wanted some, and she giggled, nodding. Tyler took two cups from the pantry, and poured her some.
She clinked their glasses together, making him smile before drinking. They sat in comfortable silence, before Tyler wiped his mouth and looked at Jenna. "So...what should we do now?" He asked, after putting everything away.
Jenna rolled her eyes. "Well, since you don't wanna do the homework-" "Jen, it's Friday night! And Statistics. More like Sadistic." Tyler said, slightly sneering as Jenna laughed. "That doesn't even make sense, you dork."
Tyler rolled his eyes and pranced out of the room, Jenna following. He grabbed her hand and diverted her path away from the living room, up the stairs to his bedroom.
"Ty-"
"Oh, c'mon, I can't cuddle with my girlfriend on the couch in my living room. Please?" He begged, making Jenna smile and give in. She followed him up to his bedroom, and they promptly flopped down on the bed, Tyler sighing loudly as he did.
He scrubbed his face and closed his eyes, before remembering Jenna was there and pulled her close to him, wrapping his arms around her torso securely. She rested her head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
After a few minutes of not speaking, Jenna looked up at Tyler, who leaned forward and pecked her lips quickly. She smiled at that, and cuddled back into his chest. He rubbed her back slowly, making her sigh contentedly.
But, Jenna could tell that something was off. She didn't know what, but she knew that Tyler wasn't alright, and he was damn good at hiding his feelings.
As he drew little designs in her back with his index finger, the doorbell rang, making the boy tense instantly.
"I'll be right back," he mumbled, and they untangled their bodies from each other. He trudged down the steps, leaning against a white pristine pillar, before going and opening the door.
"Is Chris home—oh, hello Tyler."
