The Reconnaissance Mech or RM-01 as it was named, started streaming in data of all sorts of elements. It scanned plants, land formations, cloud patterns, and so much more all at once.
1 TB of data was coming in each minute or two and it was being collected and immediately reconstructed into a form that contained basic details in a Loadout Chart. The Data Analysis team had set up four rows of massive collection terminals, each with the holding capacity of 1000 TB of data.
We were all astouned at how quick and accurate the RM was collecting data, the details contained everything from its connection to its ancestrial form to the changes and some of its biological make up.
For a good two hours or so data was being collected from everything the Mech had been experiencing and analizing. The collection terminals had to be switched with new ones to keep up.
Soon afterwards the first sign of mammal life showed up. It is the same species of deer we had encountered in our first adventure on the surface. Their data was unbelievable, their behaviour was almost identical to how they were 100 years ago, but their appearance and how they're built has changed drastically.
The males' antlers have enlarged as well, they have more extensions branching out from the main branch. The tips of their antlers seemed to have gotten much sharper, the data that was collected said it could penetrate the armour of the Mech quite easily.
Bradley decided not to test this and moved on from the area, this was just a small area surrounding the entrance to the tunnel. General Tallius suggested that he should branch out one kilomer at a time in a circle pattern branching outwards from the entrance.
With the operation running quite smoothly for now Leo and I decided to take a break from watching the screen to go and talk to everyone involved with the Mechs development. We first stopped at the Designer of the mech, Mark Smith was his name.
He had decided to make the mech as human as possible to increase movement, accuracy and precision. He showed us his initial sketches for the mech and I was very impressed with his work. Leo, however, was even more fascinated. He and Mark had a discussion about how the future line of Mechs would look since they both had quite the library of knowledge on mechanics.
Next we stopped at the men and women who built the 75 ton Human Robot with their bare hands for three long months. They told us quite a detailed explanation of the blueprints they used to build it. They also showed us how they built the machine and the materials they used for it.
After that facinating tour we walked over to the weapon specialists where Ramon was standing there waiting for us. He was quite the weapon enthusiast. Louis Clarkson was the main grease monkey behind the development and building of all the weapons currently equiped to RM-01.
However, our tour had been quickly and loudy interrupted when we received word to head back to the control room. All three of us rushed back to the control room with the utmost haste and when we got there it was in an absolute state of panic.
"Bradley, get the RM unit out of there right now! This thing cannot be destroyed!" Tallius was shouting when we got there.
"I can't shake it, I can't shake it!" Bradley shouted histerically.
"What the hell is going on here, General?" Ramon asked, adressing the situation. The Mech was under attack, it has already demolished the shoulder mounted sniper rifle and the rocket's ammo holder completely.
"What is attacking the mech?" I asked in panic, not knowing what to do.
"It's a bear! We were analysing it from a good distance till it started charging at us." Sean said, still trying to fight off the bear and escape with the mech in one piece. Leo quickly looked over the data that the RM collected before the bear started attacking. The bear was gaining ground on the Mech and was almost on it.
"What does it..." Leo bolted past me, knocking me out the way. He asked Sean to get out of the console so that he could take over. I had no idea what his intentions were.
"Do you even know how to operate it?" General Tallius asked while he was taking control. Leo didn't say one word as he took the helm and started fighting the bear. While he was doing that, I decided it would be best to examine the gathered info on it and Ramon joined me as well.
As soon as we glanced over the data we knew why Leo acted as he did. This bear was beyond dangerous, compared to the cougar this monster was on another plane completely.
"Oh shit. This is really, really bad!" I said while running to Leo's side at the control console.
"Leo, you have to get the hell out of there right now!" Ramon said putting his hand on Leo's shoulder. But that was not going to happen. The bear was gaining ground too quick. Running wouldn't help, all Leo could do was stand his ground and fight.
Using the 50 cal. machine guns on both arms, he started firing at the monstrosity barreling down on the mech, but they were of little effect. The bullets didn't seem to have much effect on the bear at all. They were hitting and breaking apart completely, and in no time the bear was right on the mech.
It stood on its hind legs and pushed down on the RM's shoulders, throwing it to the ground. With clear agression it started ripping Betsy appart.
"Use the shotgun!" I yelled at Leo in desperation. Screaming in frustration, Leo said: " I don't know how!"
Sean quickly moved in with one hand pushing a button on the joystick repeatedly. After that it was complete silence as we were all looking at the screen.
