It had been three days since Louis' surgery. He stirred awake for a moment a few hours after the surgery, but then went back and hadn't woken up since. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it was uncommon. It gave Harry a bit of fear for the boy, and he didn't like it.
Walking over to the door of a new patient, Harry knocked quickly before walking in. He flashed a bright smile at the old lady. From the paperwork Harry had, she was in her seventies, and she was in due to a heart attack. It was a normal, and fixable thing.
"Hello, Doctor," she greeted at Harry, smiling.
"Hello, Ms. Manner." Harry politely greeted with a small smile, "I'm Dr. Styles, I'm just here to check up on you," he paused, "so, can you tell me what happened last night, before you got to the hospital?"
She shrugged, "It was a heart attack, in fact my second one this month," she sighed leaning back into the bed, "I'm gettin old let me tell you," she said chuckling, "you son, are quiet young, yeah?"
Harry nodded smirking at the lady, before walking over to the sink and getting the women a cup of water.
"Here," Harry said, handing the women the styrofoam cup.
"Thank you," she said, slowly sipping the water. Harry nodded, sitting next to the women. She sat the cup down, then pointed to him. "Stay young, don't be afraid to go after what you love, because trust me if you go out hiding from what you love and desire, then your gonna end up like me," she motioned to herself, "old, widowed, and old," she chuckled.
Harry couldn't help but to think about Louis. His cheeky comments, his astonishing blue eyes, the taste of his lips. It all mesmerized Harry.
He seemed to care less and less about the judgement he would get from everyone if they knew he actually had something with Louis. Sure Zayn and Liam had an idea of it all. If they actually knew, theres no doubt they'd be telling the chief and just like that, he'd be put on watch with anything he did, hell, he could even lose his job.
Harry went to say more to the woman, but before he could get a word out his pager went off. He glanced at it, seeing it was from Dr. Yang. Louis was awake, asking to see Harry, which he couldn't help but smile at.
"What's that?" she asked smiling knowingly.
"My pager," Harry told her, putting it back into his pocket. She nodded, wanting to ask more, but kept to herself.
"Is there anything else you need?" he asked writing up her charts.
"I should be fine, thank you," she said, shaking her head.
"Okay, press the red button if you need any assistance alright?" he motioned over towards the button. She just nodded before waving goodbye, and with that Harry was off to room 201.
Harry stood outside of the rooms door, before taking a deep breath, and walking in. He took quiet steps, and took a seat by the bed. He carefully slid his fingers through Louis', and when the man's eyes fluttered he smiled softly.
"Look who's finally awake," Harry whispered.
Louis smiled the smallest bit, his eyes still closed as he licked his lips, "Hi."
"How you feeling?" Harry asked, rubbing the back of Louis' hand softly.
"Uhm, dead?" Louis furrowed his eyebrows, but then open his eyes slowly. He had tears in his eyes.
"You're okay," Harry murmured, "I promised you didn't I?"
Louis nodded. A tear rolled down his cheek, and Harry wiped it away. "Thank you so much," his voice cracked a bit.
"It's my job," Harry joked pushing hair behind Louis' ear.
The room was quiet for a moment, before Louis spoke up, "You know, you should probably close the door, unless you want to get fired for kissing one of your patients."
Harry got what he was implying he wanted, and he shot up to close the door and get back as quick as he could. He wore a smile when he sat on the edge of Louis' bed, and Louis pulled him down by the neck when he was close enough. He was tired, so thank god he didn't have to reach far for him.
Harry pushed his lips down onto Louis' as if by pressing harder they could get closer. Louis kept up with him, his fingers unintentionally holding onto Harry's curls.
Louis' mouth was hot. Harry couldn't keep his lips to himself. It was so far against the rules, but it was so right. It wasn't even sexual, if anything is was sensual. Louis was scared of it ending. He couldn't get ahold of the fact that he was alive and out of danger. He could kiss Harry forever. The taste of his lips against his own gave him a rush, one that didn't make his heart freak out for once.
"Harry," Louis breathed. He was panting, and continued pressing open mouthed kisses to Harry's lips. Soft, and gentle, and non-ending. Harry nudged his nose against Louis', departing their lips to take in some air.
Louis giggled. Like a teenager. He didn't know why, but he did, and quickly concealed the laugh as soon as it left him. It made Harry smile, knowing that he was happy, alive, and well. Their foreheads leaned against one another, lips red and cheeks flushed.
"Good thing you closed the door huh?" Louis smirked.
Harry let out a small laugh, leaning back enough to get a look at Louis' face, "Yeah, you never know if Dr. Yang were to walk in."
"Awkward," Louis hummed, kissing the corner of Harry's lips.
"If she saw... it would definitely take a lot of persuasion that it isn't what she thinks," Harry said, laughing again.
Louis smiled, fondling Harry's fingers. Harry gave his a comforting squeeze. Louis looked up at him, a serious expression replaced the lively one. "Thank you," he paused, "for saving my life. I know it's your job, but if it weren't for everything you've done for me, I could be dead right now. I want you to know it means the world Harry, and I would want nothing more than to see you again, after I'm out the hospital," he told him.
Harry smiled- no, grinned. Brighter than the moon. He nodded slightly, and pulled Louis to him for a hug, tucking his head into the patients neck.
