Justin's POV

The next morning I got up, got dressed quickly and headed with Fredo straight for the beach. When we finally got to the beach I was so upset. All of flyers we had stuck on the pier were gone. Didn't law enforcement have better things to do? How would I ever find her now?

I leaned against the railing on the pier, frustrated and exhausted, staring at the waves crashing against the shore.

"Dude, if she's that beautiful," Fredo trailed off, "She probably already has a boyfriend. Maybe two, she could a two timing, cheating little groupie."

"Thanks for the support."

"I'm trying to protect you."

"Protect me from what?"

"Maybe there's a reason you haven't seen this dream girl. She could be married or she could have escaped from prison, maybe she was a mermaid. I mean she did save you from drowning then disappeared."

"You think I imagined it all, don't you? You don't believe she was real."

"Of course I believe it, man! But she was just some random girl you met at the beach, you meet millions of girls all over the world, what makes this one so special?"

To tell you the truth I really didn't know but I sure as hell wanted to find out.

Lily's POV

I opened the potion the Sea Witch had given me and quickly swallowed it down until there was not even a drop left in the bottle.

As I wiped gooey droplets from my mouth, I fell into a coughing fit.

"Are you okay?" Arielle asked worriedly. "You don't look so good!"

"No - "I said, through coughs."I'm all right."

Ari and I waited patiently to see when my tail would turn into legs. Seconds became minutes.

I finally sat down on a rock close to the pier.

The tension was too great as we waited with bated breaths to see what would happen.  Arielle sat beside me chewing her nails with a nervous expression on her face.

"I'm still a mermaid!" I exclaimed an hour later. "That potion didn't work at all."

"I knew we shouldn't have gone to get it!" Arielle sighed, hugging me. "I'm glad it didn't work though, we couldn't be best friends if you didn't live in the ocean anymore?"

"I spent my savings on that potion! I could have bought front row tickets to the Fin Star concert."

"Or backstage passes and and autographed picture," Arielle teased.

"I'm going back to the Sea Witch's cave tomorrow to demand a refund."

"Maybe it was for the best," Ari tried to comfort me. "Mermaids belong in the ocean."

"And charlatans belong in the Underworld. Oh . . . I don't feel so well," I moaned as I started to feel lightheaded.

Everything around me started to spin as I held my head. I felt sick; no I felt as if I'd been stabbed several times and left to die. Suddenly a sharp cold pain inflicted itself upon me. My tail fell apart leaving me in agony, the pain only intensified as it started constantly shifting. I screamed in pure fright as my tail separated and became to dangling long legs.

"Ari!" I squeaked out as I struggled for breath. "I'm human!"

I wildly wiggled two long lean legs and ten tiny toes! I'd used my life savings for these legs, but the reality was terrifying. I was cold, naked, and alone. Arielle was nowhere near me as I must have drifted away during my transformation. I quickly sat up stretching out my brand new legs on the sand where I had drifted ashore.
