Emma.

I wake up to a loud screaming and sit up in bed, looking around the room in a daze before I hear the scream again and then a loud cry.

"Lacey" I call falling out of bed and running down the hallway, swinging the door to our bedroom open, to find Lacey clutching at the pillow, tears streaming down her face as another scream leaves her mouth.

I quickly run over to the bed and shake her gently.

"Lace wake up" I say quietly, running my finger down her cheek to brush away the tears.

She starts thrashing in the bed and I quickly hold her, climbing into the bed and pulling her body into mine.

"I've got you" I mumble.

"Emma" She says waking up.

"I'm here, I've got you" I say quietly as she clutches onto my shirt.

I run my fingers up and down her back trying to calm her down, the guilt setting in as I start to realise she has been having nightmares again.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask softly against her ear.

"I didn't want that to be the reason you came back" She hiccupped.

"I'm sorry" I whisper running my nose along her cheek, pulling back slightly so I could see her eyes.

"It's okay"

"It's not, I always stopped them, and when I left they came back" I say sadly running the back of my knuckles across her cheek.

"It's not your fault" She shakes her head.

I don't entirely agree with her, but I decide not to argue her on it, it's not exactly going to get us anywhere, so instead I just pull her into my arms, tucking my chin against her head and holding her.

"What's the time?" She asks softly, muffled against my hoodie.

"I don't know, it's still dark out so" I shrug softly.

"Will you stay with me until I fall asleep?" She asks so quietly I almost didn't hear her.

Did she really think I was going to leave after she just had a nightmare? I just pull her closer to me as a silent agreement that I'm not going anywhere, I feel her body relax and mould against mine, and within seconds I feel myself drifing off to sleep.

I'm nudged awake again what feels like five minutes after I had fallen asleep, but when I squint my eyes open, I can see daylight seeping through the top of the curtains.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you" Lacey says quietly.

"It's okay, what time is it?" I ask reaching up to wipe at my eyes.

"Seven" She answers.

"Crap" I shoot up out of bed, my hand flying up to my temple as a pounding headache takes over.

"What's wrong?" Lacey asks looking at me in concern.

"I have an exam in thirty minutes and I am hanging oh god" I moan rubbing at my temples.

"Go get ready, I'll make you coffee and some toast"

I offer her a small smile before leaving the bedroom and heading towards the bathroom, trying to make myself look semi presentable.

"CRAP" I shout again as I get to the bathroom.

"What?" Lacey calls.

"I left my car at the party, I'm never going to make it in time" I shake my head, already feeling like this day is going to be a total disaster.
