Chapter 1

Flames. That's all I see. Flames dancing around and inside the little cottage I once called home. My breath hitches, and I drop the basket of the fruits I picked not even hours ago, and run towards the building. Using some black magic I managed to conjure, I shield myself from the fire and look around for my parents, hoping they weren't home at the time. I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding, and some coughs come out after. I hurry out of the flaming area and get a safe distance away. I look around worriedly to find my parents in the midst of the dark starry night. As I'm walking, I see red out of the corner of my eye, and turn to see it clearly. I hold my mouth and try not to throw up at the scene I was witnessing. One the ground, I see three bodies. A woman, with her white blouse and jeans soaked in blood, with her eyes removed and her fingers severed, lying on the ground next to her, a man, with clothes also drenched with blood, eyes taken out, and fingers on the ground, and a little purple and black exeed, wearing a white miniskirt, also covered with blood, but with her eyes in their sockets, the life drained out of them. "Mom......Dad.....Luna." I manage to choke out; the amount of tears streaming out of my eyes could fill an entire ocean. I hear the sound of footsteps not far behind me. I turn around, and instantly spot a man in a black hoodie and black sweatpants, coming towards me with a blood-soaked knife in his gloved hand. Too scared to move, I let the shady figure inch towards me. When he gets close enough to me, he takes the knife in his hands and holds it next to my neck and slashes. I wince at the pain, but still do not move. He lands more blows on my arms, legs, and my now exposed stomach. He then drags the knife from the fresh wound on my stomach up to my face, the only place on my body he left unharmed. With a swift move of his weapon, he slices down the upper right side of my face, leaving a gushing wound above my right eye and crawling down to right below it, slicing my eye in two. I let out the screams I've been holding in as he uses his fingers and not-so-gracefully pulls out the two halves of my eye and stuffs them in a little bag he pulled out of who knows where. Finally realizing I can move, I gather up all the strength I had left to summon a sword with my black magic. I use the sword to fling his knife and it stabs a nearby tree. Before the guy could react, or show any emotion, I use my black and midnight purple sword to stab him in the gut, retract it, and stab him in the head. I laugh maniacally, and shortly after faint from the amount of blood loss.

I bolt up in my bed, hyperventilating. I touch my face with my cold fingertips to see a mixture of blood and tears. Sighing, I get out of my bed and into the bathroom in my condo. I look in the mirror to see my artificial eye missing, and blood pouring out of the socket of my right eye. I wash my face in the sink, watching the red color of my blood swirling down the drain. Some of the blood gets into my mouth, past my dry lips, and I taste the metallic flavor. Why do I keep getting this dream? I think to myself.

When I finish washing my face, I apply some foundation and other makeup to finish the coverage of my slightly tear-stained face. I tie my (h/c) hair up into a high ponytail and brush my teeth. I leave the bathroom and walk over to the closet in my room to change into outside clothes. I pick out a (f/c) hoodie and gray pants, then head to my vanity. I open a drawer and pull out a black eye patch to cover my missing eye. After I tied the eye patch over my head, I walk to the entrance of my condo and put on tall (f/c) heeled boots with laces. I say goodbye to the three pictures of my mom, dad, and exeed Luna, kiss them, and place a rose in front of each one. I open the white door of my house and head to the Fairy Tail Guild Hall to take a job request.
