Look. I'm not about to tell you this book has a tragic ending, I already said that in the very first line how it was my favorite in all the world. But there's a lot of bad stuff coming.

-William Goldman

Prologue

"Are you ok?"

"Yeah, fine." He replied.

"No you're not, I can see in your eyes you're hurting."

"So, people hurt all the time."

"It's ok, you can tell me anything. I promise I won't leave you."

"People break promises."

I could see the tears threatening to fall from his chocolate brown eyes. I wanted to make those tears stop. I wanted to make him stop hurting. I wanted to make him feel happy again.

"I swear to you, I won't break this one. I won't hurt you like the others."

He couldn't look me in the eye.

"How do I know you won't. You can't trust anyone."

"You can trust me, and that's a promise I will never break."

Chapter 1

The streets were quiet. The leaves would blow off the trees and pass by the window. There were no birds chirping. Occasionally a car would pass by. It was normal for this town. Maybe a little over 1,000 people lived here. But I enjoyed the quiet.

I enjoyed the loneliness.

And I was used to it.

"Hello ma'am, what can I get you for today?" A tall brunette with green eyes came up to my table. She was beautiful and I instantly felt jealous.

"Just a hot chocolate please." I pulled my sleeves down and looked up at her.

"Alright it will be out in a few minutes." She smiled a fake smile.

"Thank you." I looked out the window once again and mentally beat myself up.

Don't feel sorry for your self, you're better than that Angelica.

I noticed it was beginning to get dark outside and thought I should head home soon. My dad would be expecting me home.

My hot chocolate came out and I drank it rather quickly, logged out of my laptop and put it in its case. I put the bag around my shoulder and left the money on the table.

When I stepped out of the coffee shop, the wind came at me and made me shiver. I should have brought my jacket because the walk home was going to be a long and cold one.

I started my walk down the sidewalk and took a look at the scenery. It was beautiful. The leaves were beginning to change their color but the grass was still green. There was a bright yellow and dark orange which always contrasted well. And right in the center was a fountain.

I suddenly took out my phone and took a picture of everything.

I would paint it once I got home.

Once I was satisfied with my picture, I began walking again.

I seemed to be too lost in my thoughts about what colors and how I would paint the picture this time, to notice a person right in front of me. We collided and both ended up on the ground.

"I'm sorry, are you ok?" I looked up to see who was speaking and saw a man with black messy hair and clothes stained from paint.

"Uhh yeah, my head hurts a little bit though. Are you ok?" I rubbed my head where the collision happened. I would have to put ice on it when I got home.
