"My darling," she said at last,"are you sure you don't mind being a mouse for the rest of your life?"

"I don't mind at all," I said. "It doesn't matter who you are or what you look like so long as somebody loves you."

Chapter 2

"Caitlin, I'm so happy you're here. I've missed you so much." We were currently getting me ready for our night out together in a year, and I had no idea what to wear.

"Oh I know, college is so much harder without my best friend."

I smiled at her while I curled my hair.

"So, what are you going to wear tonight?" She started picking out things out of my closet. I didn't really have a lot of nice things to wear to a club, just old t-shirts and jeans. That was all I wore.

"Uhh, I really don't know." I quickly glanced at her to see her staring at me with a blank expression.

"Angelica, you really need to update your closet. Ah, that's our second mission, to get you a new wardrobe, cause these clothes are just, I can't even put it into words."

"Hey! I happen to like my look. I don't want to be to flashy like some people. Looks aren't everything!"

"Were still going shopping tomorrow whether you like it or not."

"Ugh, fine." I decided to just give up. There's no point in arguing with her, she would just get her way in the end. But I could always use a few new shirts...

"AH! I found the perfect outfit for tonight! I can't believe you actually had this in the back of you're closet!" I walked out of the bathroom and saw the outfit she was so excited about.

It was a white leather jacket with a gold sequined top and blue skinny jeans.

"Oh my god, I totally forgot I had this. Thanks Caitlin! This would have rotted back here for years. I don't even remember why I bought this."

"Oh, maybe it was for some boy if you know what I mean." She gave me the biggest smile she could give and a small wink. I only rolled my eyes.

"Now come on woman! We have to get moving! We've got so much to do with so little time!"

"Alright alright, calm down. I'm almost done. But tell me about college, what's it like?"

"Oh Angie, it's amazing, well besides not having you around. But anyways it's great, there's so much to do and I'm getting such a great education there. Yeah I know it's weird, I actually like learning. But it's just so fantastic and the music program is outstanding. I even learned how to play the bassoon. Yah like the only instrument I don't know how to play. But it's great Angie, really. You would love it. I still can't believe you didn't go. And with a full scholarship to Oxford." Her eyes lit up when I mentioned college. I knew she was having the time of her life there and I was happy for her. I've always wanted to go to college but with my dad here, I couldn't leave him by himself.

"Caitlin, you know why I didn't go. But I'm doing just fine here. I don't regret it though." Though sometimes I imagine life if I did go to Oxford.

Would I actually be successful in the career I wanted to pursue? Would I still be the painter I love today? Would I meet the love of my life there? And would I be more happy then I am now?

I've asked myself these questions over and over again wondering what life would be if I chose that path.

"Yeah I know." She that with a small voice. She knew it was a sensitive subject for me as well as many others. "So are you almost done getting ready, it's already 8:30."
