Living together

40: "our AC is out and it's the middle of the summer"

42: "my parents are coming over in 10 minutes so please put some clothes on"

A/N: OK, guys, so here's a little something, don't know if this is one of my best works, but I hope y'all manage <333

Y/N had been up for about 30 minutes. 30 minutes full of panic and desperate cleaning. It wasn't before sweat dripped down her forehead and Y/N felt her shirt stick to her back that she noticed the air conditioner wasn't on, in a hurry she jogged over to the remote and quickly put it on, the last thing she wanted was for her parents to leave snarky comments on the temperature in her and Barry's new apartment. When it didn't turn on, Y/N continued to push buttons in panic. This was not the day for their AC to go bunkers. Though with their luck: Of course it was.

"Barry!" She threw a pillow at him from the living room.

"Ugh," he lazily answered which normally would make Y/N smile. Though normally Y/N wouldn't throw a pillow at him either, no she would usually snuggle into him and watch his peaceful look until he couldn't pretend that he slept anymore. That's why Y/N threw yet another pillow at him and continued to clean the bathroom.

"Barry, our AC is broken, I need to take a shower, and my parents are coming to visit in an hour!" At this, he jumped out of bed and sped over to her and brushed his teeth.

The 50 minutes had been spent effective and Y/N stepped out of the shower. She quickly dried her hair and put on a tad bit of makeup to satisfy her mom and then put on some formal clothes so her dad wouldn't think their economy was too low. When she stepped out she faced a shirtless Barry in a pair of sweats.

"My parents are coming in 10 minutes Barry, so please put some clothes on! I swear, they're going to find something wrong about this place, and I don't think I can-" Y/N stopped her self-pity rant when she felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her.

"Just try to calm down, Y/N, this will work out just fine. I don't think our home was this clean when we bought it, I just called the janitor and he will look at our air conditioner once he's back from his family reunion," he did his best on reassuring her as he talked soothingly and stroke her hair.

"Thanks, Barr. I know I can be a stressful monster at times... Just know that I love you, ok?"

"I love you more,"

They had been in the middle of their moment when the doorbell had rung.

"Shoot, they're early! Barry, go put on something formal, but not matching! It will freak them out! You know how they are!" Y/N practically pushed her boyfriend into their room and ran towards the door to buzz her parents inside their building.

"Hi! Just come right up, fourth floor!" She said in a cheerful tone.

"Four, zero, nine, honey?" Her mom asked.

"Yes, that's right! See you soon!"

"Mom! Dad!" Y/N gave each one of them a hug once the conservative couple came in.

"Y/N! You look nice," her mom went over to kiss either side of Y/N's cheeks, and then looked over the living room.

"Where's your cohabitant, Bartholomew?" The man in the suit spoke up for the first time.

"Actually, dad, his name is Barry," Y/N started to worry if her mother would soon notice sweat dripping down her forehead.

"That's what I said: Bartholomew, now where is he?"

"Didn't he know we were coming?" Y/N's mother asked, and to Y/N's luck, her boyfriend fled down the stairs at the mention of his name.

"It's very hot in here,"

"Yes, I know mom,"

"Are you doing well? Doesn't Bartholomew help with the economy?"

"He does mom, we're doing perfectly fine, we're actually-"

"You know, we can always give you money, by the look of this place, it doesn't seem like you use a maid. I'm sure Diana wouldn't mind cleaning here as well. Or maybe she have some friends that can do it! I was just told that they also associate, did you know?"

"Mom, they're normal people, not objects. And we don't need a maid of any sort, we're doing perfectly fi-"

"Is that sweat on your forehead, Y/N? It's not proper for a lady to sweat in public. Now that I mentioned it, it is rather warm. Charles, do you think it's hot in here?"

"Why yes, Mary, now that you mention it, it is rather sweaty in here," that was it. Y/N couldn't take it anymore.

"Mom, dad! I can't do this anymore! Our AC is out, and yes, it's the middle of summer, we know that, but honestly? We don't care. Barry – his name is not Bartholomew, and I am fine with it, and you guys shouldn't care that much. Mom, we don't need a maid or money. Do you guys even know how much stress you guys give me? I don't think I remembered to eat before you guys came over. I pretty much cleaned the whole house, and you guys just criticize me. Now I would like you to leave my home," When her parents didn't move, Barry got up and slowly walked towards the door, and opened it.

"Mr. and Mrs. Y/L/N, it was nice to see you guys again, I just don't think Y/N's one hundred percent ok right now," the shocked parents nodded in agreement, and made their way out the door.

"Yes, of course, it must be the heat," was the last thing Y/N heard before Barry had closed the door.

Y/N had lied down at the couch for about ten minutes. With her back turned to the rest of the room and her face towards the back of the sofa, she was quite surprised when she felt a strong pair of arms wrap around her waist.

"Hey," she heard Barry's voice, felt his breath touch her skin, and smiled while turning around to see his handsome face.

"Hi," she smiled back at him.

"I was thinking..." Barry started and looked down at his tired girlfriend. "What do you think of a little fun outside with some water, while the janitor fix the AC?" The smile on Y/N's lips told Barry she liked his idea.

"Can we just lay here a couple more minutes, Barr?" Y/N asked. And knowing what she went through that day, Barry could easily walked through hell, just to comfort her with cuddles and kisses, he thought.
