It's been six months since I've been to Camp Half Blood. The summer ended so most people went to pack up and leave for the school year.
Right now I am attending a small school in New York City with my new boyfriend Erik, yeah that's right Erik's my boyfriend now.
If you're wondering what happened to the others right now. Siana is attending USB boarding school in Florida searching for other demigods and having a good time with the sunny weather.
Holly is living in Colorado with her mom for now studying any suspicious movements in the world, and studying for her exams.
Justine is staying back at camp with Percy and her friend Kyle. They're protecting the Sword of Hades and doing a rescue plan for the six others who are in Shadow's grasp.
As for me school is going great, I'm getting all A's, and no monsters, yet at least.
"Hey Beatrice you okay?" Erik days pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Um yeah, just thinking" I say.
"Good" he says putting his arm around my waist. I blush even though he's done it a million times.
We walk to school and it's the casual, certain groups gather in the lockers. I put my backpack in my locker and grab my science binder.
Erik and I walk to class and sit down. The bell rings and we do the worst thing in classes, take notes. By the end of class my hand is cramped up and I have to draw next period for art.
I never was a big fan of art but Erik insisted I take it this year.
When we get to class we sit down at the art tables we're assigned too. I'm across the room from Erik and his table, the bad part is that there's a girl named Paige at the table who constantly flirts with him.
Our assignment is to create some sort of art that represents the dark side of things. So using dark colors that represent evil.
I never know what to do for these kind of things. I have been having nightmares though lately of s creepy looking castle so I decide to do that.
I paint the gray sky the tree's blackish color and the castle black , with dark red doors. I look at the clock and class will be over in 15 minutes.
I put it on the drying rack and look over at what Erik was drawing He was painting a beautiful garden but since the theme was evil he colored the large fence around it black with the soil a dark red color. The thorns are around a beautiful and unique black rose.
"Wow Erik that's amazing" I say.
"I know" he says a smile forming on his face.
"Yeah it is, what does the rose represent?" Paige says staring at him rather than his drawing.
"Nothing, just something I put in there" he says.
"Really? Are you sure it doesn't represent cruel love?" She says starring at me with a scowl.
"Yes, now shut up Paige" he says.
She gives me a dark expression and turns to talk to her friends.
The teacher comes around grading them and she gives me and Erik A's.
"Here, take it" he says and gives it to me.
"Thanks" I say putting it carefully in my backpack. Why do I have my backpack now? We're going to the History museum 3rd through 8th period. I admit I'm not a big fan of my History teacher he can be fine as long as you stay on his good side.
We walk to class and everyone has their backpacks ready. Groups are chatting around desks, some are doing homework from other classes and others are on their phones.
The teacher walks in just as the bell rings, he takes attendance and we all walk out to the bus.
We get on and sit in the front seat and he takes out his phone. "Why don't you have a cell phone?" He asks me. I admit I've wanted one but you can only make so much money with a part time job, I have to pay rent, and the fact that I'm a demigod and phones can track you kind of says it all.
"Money, rent, kind of an issue" I say.
He chuckles and does his cute smile at me.
I look out the window as we start moving forward wondering how the others are doing.
Six months ago I felt betrayed by whoever my father is I remember what they said though
"We can't, it'll only put her in more danger, she'll be claimed when the time is right".
What danger what could I be in? All I know is that when Justine contacts me I come back to camp, I do it as soon as I can.
I yawn as the bus ride goes on forever Erik says that he wants to tell me something when we get to the museum, I think it's just something about Valentine's Day coming up.
The bus pulls to a stop and we start to get off , since Erik and I are in the front we get off first.
Suddenly the busses doors close behind us and by the look of the bus driver he can't get it open.
"Uh, oh" I say.
"There now we can be alone" Erik says.
"What's going on?!" I say freaked out.
"Beatrice, I wanted you to know who I really am" he says, he snaps and guards run out and pull back my wrists keeping me from moving.
He backs up, and shadow's rise from the ground forming around him after they disappear there's a whole new person standing there.
His hair stays the same one of the only things. His eyes are a dark red color with what looks like anger and hatred in them. He wears a long flowing black cape, with a red jewel in the center probably keeping the cloak in tact. He also wears a black silver-tinged vest which reaches down to the end of his ribcage and this rests over his long-sleeved black shirt. A gray belts hang around his waist. His pants are the same dark color of the rest of outfit and he has dark black boots.
On his hands there's one tattoo on his right hand that has the symbol of Shadow, and the other he has one with three snakes with fangs out making an A.
"Shadow?!" I say scared, Justine said I probably wouldn't face Shadow yet but looks like she was wrong.
He does an evil smirk, and says "You catch on fast Beatrice, now you'll be coming back with me".
I gulp thinking of calling for help but there's nobody around who could help.
"But just to make sure you don't escape like my other girlfriend did..." he says. He holds up his right hand, shadows come flying out going through the ground and forming around me.
When it's finished I'm trapped in this tiny dark oval. I pound on the walls but surprisingly they're as hard as steel.
I have no choice but to scream for help, if I can't break out from the inside, someone from the outside could, but I don't want to witness someone taking on Shadow.
"Don't even think about it, the only people who can hear you is me" he says.
"Wrong again Shadow" a voice says.
I look backwards, though the shadows and there's a girl with golden hair tied up with electric blue eyes, wearing a white tank top with ripped jeans what look flexible enough to run and fight it, she wears combat boots with a bow and arrows in a quiver. I immediately recognize the face, the only demigod who has a chance at winning a battle with Shadow alone...Justine.
