I don't feel either excited or happy, I feel scared. I hated Shadow in his true form he was totally a different person. I still think of him as Erik though. A handsome, nice, sweet boy that any girl would fall for. Unfortunately we have to leave in a few hours, enough to get throughout the day.
"From our research there is two places the Black Rose could be. There's the Black Lake and the Demon's council headquarters" Kyle says.
From what I've heard from the studies that I did during that summer, the demon council is made up of 4 members. Shadow and his 3 sisters Elizabeth, Mableene, and Jessica. They are the ones that keep King Alptraum's realm in tact and safe from light.
"Alright we'll have to split into teams of two" Siana says.
"I'm going with Siana" Holly says with no emotion whatsoever.
"Okay, then I guess you're with me Beatrice. We'll take the black lake since you can control water" Justine says. I just nod back, for some reason I'm really quiet.
As the meeting dismissed we got up and headed back to our cabins, I didn't really have that much stuff because I was, you know rescued from pure evil so I didn't have time to pack a bag, all I had was my school bag.
I empty out all of my stuff using it just as a small bag.
Notebooks
Pencils
Books
Binders
All the casual stuff from school, until I get to the bottom, the picture that Shadow painted me, rolled up and tied with a rubber band. Anger explodes throughout my entire body.
I put it on the ground, stomp it, and shove it under the bed. I fill my bag with clothes, a hairbrush, a toothbrush with toothpaste, a small pocket knife I always kept for self defense, and a few hairy ties.
I change into navy blue combat outfit and tied my hair up into a pony tail. I changed out of my ragged tennis shoes and replaced them with combat boots.
I take one last look at the cabin before I head out the door. I walk around the camp for free time before dinner, after dinner though we have to leave. I decide to go to the lake just to get the feeling of the calm, cold water. I go down there, the lake is just nice and everything is calm for once . I kneel down by the lake and watch the little guppies swim closer to the shore as they swim around free of their predators for now. I sigh thinking about if I'll die out there.
Oh course I want to live my life I mean I'm 16, almost an adult but if I get into Er-Shadow's hands I'll die to protect my friends and the world. But I would live for the kind sweet-hearted Erik that Shadow was acting under.
"Taking one last look?" A voice says. I turn around and Justine is there wearing a dark green combat outfit, and black combat boots. She has her golden hair tied up (As usual), her silver necklace (That turns into her bow), and her golden ring on her finger.
"Yeah...just little nervous" I say wth the saddened tone in my voice.
She sits down on her knees next to me staring at the lake obviously thinking.
"I don't know Justine, I'm just nervous that-" I say but she interrupts me quickly.
"Shadow's going to try to use your feelings from Erik against you, try to act like the boy he was and wasn't pretending to be him, that he meant all of the stuff he said" she says staring down at her hands that are now cupped like they would in an underhand form in volleyball.
That was exactly what I was going to say. Has she experienced this?
"How did you know?" I ask.
"That's what he does to manipulate people, including me..." She says.
Silence passes one minute after the other, I don't know how but we're going to defeat Shadow, and I promise myself I won't let him manipulate me.
"Just be careful Beatrice, he's obviously moved on from me to you" Justine says.
"Don't worry I'll find a way to shake off the pain" I say.
"I'm sorry, I keep bringing up stuff from my cowardly past when I should be listening to your story" She says.
"Don't worry you can't help it" I say. I glance at her watch and it's almost six.
"Hey we should get going to dinner, we'll be dead before Shadow kills us and I don't think we want to disappoint the lord" I say.
Justine smiles and chuckles and plays along with it "Oh of course we don't what to disappoint his highness".
We laugh and play that little game until we get to the Dining Pavilion. We get our food, obviously we have to sacrifice a little of it to the gods but I do half of mine because:
A.) I'm not that hungry because of nerves
B.) I need the luck
Dinner goes by fast, too fast. Chiron thought attacking at night would draw less attention from both Shadow's army and Demon Council.
We go out to the small open field near the forest all of us are wearing the combat outfits the camp supplied us with, all of us also have small bags.
Chiron is there and hands both teams a communication device.
"Remember, it will not ring but they will click.
One click means you've completed your mission and your okay. Two clicks means turn on your communicator and we have to talk. Three clicks means emergency, we need you now, and it will send the other communicator's location" Chiron tells us and hands us the communicators.
They are large circle shaped devices with are pretty thick, it has a small button which says "On/ Off" . The other button is large and it must control the clicks.
"Good luck girls..." Chiron says worried sprinkled into his voice. We all nod and do a big group hug saying goodbyes.
Justine focus's her magic and holds out her hands. This time white magic doesn't flow out of her hands, it's gray. Two black portals open up, she directs Siana and Holly to the one on the right when we go to the one on the left.
We take one last look at one another and step into the portal.
