I think it was around 10th grade when things started to change. Not with us though. You were still my friend. You were always by my side.

Summer had officially ended and it was the worst summer of my life. My father's brother, the one who had always taken care of me since I was a baby, had been killed in a car crash. I remember coming home to my aunt crying uncontrollably. I comforted her as she told me about what happened.

I wanted to cry. I wanted to so badly, but I couldn't. Not when my aunt needed someone to hold on to. Someone to keep her steady and strong.

You came by that night because you forgot to return my history notes to me. I told you about what happened and instead of asking me if I was okay, you enclosed me in a tight embrace.

You were always special like that. You never needed words to make me feel better. Everyday, I grew more and more dependent of you, and you love that. You wanted me to depend on you. You promised me to see that you would always be by my side.

You kept your word for a long time.

"Maybe we should write about planes." Julian suggested with a bright smile, "I bet no one would think of that."

I stared at him flatly, "Julian, it's a report about flying. Why wouldn't they write about planes?"

He smiled sheepishly at me, "Maybe they thought about birds first."

I shook my head and smiled, amused by his ignorance. Then an amazing idea popped into my head.

"Maybe we should write about superheroes that can fly." I said with a wide grin. "We could write about how Superman circles the earth."

Julian let out a light chuckle, "Superheroes?" I nodded, "Not a bad idea but I was thinking maybe we could write about angels."

I thought about it for a second, "Yeah." I agreed, "That's probably best."

"Angels it is then?"

"Angels it is." I confirmed as the bell rang, signaling the end of English class.

I gathered my things and waited for Julian. My last class was Chemistry and his was Geography. It was the only period we didn't have together but we walk there together since it was in the same hall.

"When should we work on the assignment?" he asked.

"When is it due again?"

"Friday."

It was Tuesday so we only have two days to finish it. I didn't like rushing and I'm somewhat of a perfectionist so I wanted to finish things early so I could correct any mistakes and add additional stuff.

"What about tonight?" I suggested, thinking it would be best.

Julian nodded, "I'll come over then." he smiled and we parted ways.

Julian and I were practically inseparable and no one could blame us. Sure it made many girls jealous since it was Julian, but it's not like they can do anything. My dad was probably the most powerful man in the business society and he was good friends with Julian's parents.

The last period passed by normally. Julian and I parted ways in the parking lot after he told me he would meet me later.

I drove home in silence, thinking about what I could write about angels that would earn us an A. There were a lot that can be said about angels and I'm pretty sure that we weren't the only ones that had chosen this particular topic.

I pulled over at my usual spot in front of the mail box. I didn't live in a mansion but I could if I wanted to. My dad has three mansions in the whole country but I chose to stay with my aunt and uncle. They have been taking care of me since I was born and their house was the closer to school.
