2 months and 2 weeks have passed since Damon has been gone. And it never got any easier. We face time every night before I fall asleep but that just doesn't make it any better. I have a count down paper on the fridge and I look forward to the day he comes home.

I've written half of the book I'm working on and I can't wait to finish.

Katherine and Elijah got engaged 2 weeks ago and that's been keeping my mind off the fact Damon isn't here. She's made me the maid of honor in her wedding and we've been doing a lot of planning already.

I turn the lamp on the night stand off and Baker goes to his spot on the foot of the bed and lays down. He's grown so much too. I sigh as I close my eyes.

I didn't get to talk to Damon at all today. He had a big surgery. The biggest surgery yet since he's been over there.

Just a few more weeks. I can do it. I tell myself.

---

Baker's growling startles me awake and I sit up, gripping the blanket. It's too dark for me to see anything so I reach over and turn the lamp on. Baker stands up on the bed and looks back at me before returning his gaze towards the door and growling again. I open the drawer of the nightstand and grab the pocket knife Damon made me put in it.

I walk towards the door and quietly open it. I look out in the hall and see nothing. I step out and start walking down the hall when a figure steps in view at the end of the hall. The hall light turns on and I drop the knife to the ground.

"Damon?" I cry out and I run towards him. He opens his arms and picks me up as I wrap my legs around his waist. He must have not been expecting that cause we both tumble to the ground in laughter.

"Damon!" I say again, my hands moving to cup his face. I kiss him hard and move my hands through his hair.

"What are you doing here?" I say and I feel the tears fall down my cheeks. He slides his thumb over my cheek and smiles wide.

"I finished all my surgeries 2 nights ago. I didn't want to tell you cause I wanted to surprise you. I thought I would've been home this afternoon but my flight got delayed in New York. But I'm home. I didn't mean to scare you baby." He says and I shake my head. I kiss him again and his hands move on my back.

"I can't believe you are home!" I cry in his neck and he holds me close against him.

"I'm home baby. I'm not leaving you again." He says and I nod. Baker comes running down the hall and starts licking Damon's face. He laughs and I lean back so Baker can get used to Damon.

"Damn, what are you feeding him?" He asks while baker keeps licking his face. I'm going to remind myself to tell him to wash his face before I kiss him again.

"He's just growing like crazy." I say and he stands up.

"He still sleeping in the bed?" Damon asks and I nod.

"Every night, right at the bottom of the bed. Did you hear him growling? He heard you come in, that's what woke me up." I say and he smirks.

"We have us a guard dog." He smiles down at baker. I grab Damon's hand and pull him down the hall to our room.

"Wash your face." I say and he starts laughing but walks to the bathroom anyway. I climb back in bed and Baker jumps up, going to his spot. When Damon finishes, he turns the light off and climbs in beside me. He pulls me into his chest but instead I roll on top of him and straddle his waist.

"I missed you so much. I'm so happy you're home." I run my fingers down his chest and lean down to kiss him. He moves his hands up my thighs and under my shirt.
