When Cody remembered to stop running in the street, she let go of Lena. "Sorry about Antonia and Rena. They're assholes when they're hungry. I had to get you away from them or you would've been in the worst threesome ever. Ok, l've got errands to do and you can come help me out. But, first we need to go and order something at the B bank. Got it?" Lena didn't understand what was going on. She felt light headed, as if her air was removed. She strolled over to the closest park bench and took a seat, deeply breathing in and out. Cody sat down next to her. "If you want help, l'll assist but l want to know what the hell was going on back there. What was wrong with that lady and those guys, calling me a meal? Explain it or else l'll..." She couldn't even get her sentence out before Cody started to laugh. "Or else what? You'll call the police. If you want answers l'll give them to you, but you gotta chill out and help me out. It isn't easy feeding a whole coven. Please?" Cody was looking into her eyes, looking as though she was desperately serious towards her. Lena realised that this girl was serious and she felt obliged to help. "Well, l guess l could because you did help me out of that house because I didn't know what else to do, but l want answers while l help." Cody nodded at her request and as they walked down the street, she began her interrogation. "I wanna know why those guys were referring to me as a 'meal'." Cody took a breath before she decided to answer her question. "If l tell you, you can't scream or yell at me or call me a liar. Got it?" Lena nodded, desperate for answers. "Ok. Well, the reason for Countess Vick's strange behaviour is because she doesn't like strangers, especially human and the reason behind Rena and Antonia's strange sexual fantasy talk over you being a 'meal' was because our kind are used to your kind being our meals. Except for me, of course. If l had one of your kind as a meal, l'd become an uncontrollable animal and it wouldn't be very pretty." What the hell does he mean by 'my kind'? Does he think l'm a fucking alien or what? "For god's sake, l hate this new power. You haven't been in the house more than 24 hours and boom, l get the ability to hear your thoughts. And, l'm no alien. Neither are you. You're a human and well, everyone in that house are, uh, vampires. Except me, l'm a hybrid, a human vampire. But that's another story and..." She was listening, but her mind was going crazy. Vampires? Hybrid? Ha, what a liar. Okay, if you claim that you can read my mind; tell me my favourite number, which happens to be number 13. "The number thirteen isn't really a good number to have as a favourite, but whatever floats your boat l guess. And, yes vampires and hybrids exist. I am a hybrid, a human vampire. Don't diss it 'cause you're the first human l'm telling." Holy fuck! She just said... Holy fuck! "I get your shocked, but don't get all holy about it. Anyway, we're here." She walked into a building that looked like a bank, only there wasn't any lines at all, all there was were a bunch of rooms. A few of the doors from those rooms were closed, others opened. "Listen to me, there is a favour l wanted to ask of you. Don't speak through your lips, speak through your mind because if you talk, they'll realise you're a human and they will do awful things to you before they end up killing you. If you need to speak to me about anything, say it through your mind, like you have been doing since you woke up. Ok?" Um, like this? "Yes, like that. Let's do this." Cody walked in. Lena followed behind, freaking out because she didn't want to die. A man in a grey suit stood in front of Cody and said "Which teller and what type of order please?" "Williams, Jacqueline. Mass order, for the CV coven" The man looked very depressed. He looks really depressed. What's his deal? After a little wait, Lena and Cody were taken to a room, with a grey door with the letters 'W, J' painted on in white. In the office, a woman in a short black dress with a grey suit jacket was sitting there, her right hand extended for Cody. When she shook both Cody and Lena's hands, she sat down. "Hello, l'm Jacqueline Williams. How may l serve you today?" Cody took a small paper note and handed it to Jacqueline. She opened the note and read it. What's on the paper? As if Cody understood her, her voice was in her head too. 'Just something l need for the coven. Trust me; it's not what you'd expect.' Holy shit, can you speak in my head too? 'Yep, l told you that l was a hybrid and as much as l can read your thoughts, l can make you hear mine. Can you be quiet for a second while l remember how much l need?' Ha, is the order for blood or something to do with 'your kind'? 'Well, yeah. This is a blood bank.' A what? 'I just told you, it's a blood bank. This is where vampire servants come to collect the meals for those they work for. Yes, it is human blood but it comes from those who are dead. No live stock here.' Ok, wasn't expecting that. How come l've never noticed this bank before? 'Because there is a special magic that makes it look like a brick wall to those uninvited here. If it weren't for me, you'd only see a dirty old, brick wall.' Wicked "Well, let me see what we can do." Lena almost forgot that Jacqueline was there for a second because she was so engaged in the conversation she was mentally having with Cody.
