When they finally stopped run and eventually got to the clan's mansion, Cody let go of Lena's very tired arm. "Wait right here for a second. Okay?" Lena nodded. She had no idea where her voice went. It was as if it was completely and utterly gone. As she walked towards the house, Lena couldn't help but think She is cute, but sometimes she's a bit of a boss. 'Hey, l can still hear you.' Well, maybe l wanted you to hear that. 'Yeah, nothing better to know that you're cute but a boss. I don't get you humans sometimes.' Ten minutes later, Cody returned with nothing in hand. "What, how are we gonna pay for our stuff. And also, this thought talk sounds better than speaking. Doesn't kill my throat out. Is it cool if we just thought?" Lena nodded and shrugged at the same time, not caring much. Ever since she saw what happened that night, she couldn't care much for a lot now. "Well, you want to get a burger and think?" "Yeah, l am starving."

They caught a bus and after a long trip down the main street, they arrived at the simple looking Burger Land and proceeded through the glass doors. There were families, elderly people and teenagers filling up almost all of the booths, except one. There was one at the far end corner next to a window. 'What do you want?' Uh, how about a plain burger with fries and a milkshake? 'Yeah, do you also want a toy with that?' Sarcasm isn't necessary for that. It comes with the meal doesn't it? 'Go and sit down and l'll order' As Lena sat down in the booth past the other people consuming their meals, she couldn't help but notice a girl with black hair tied back, a small smile wrapped on her lips and her deep brown eyes focused on her. She wore a jet black leather jacket on with ripped dark denim jeans and a tight white singlet top. She also wore black converse sneakers with dark red laces, just like she did. She was very attractive in a lot of ways. Maybe she's staring at the wall behind me or maybe he's zoned out and forgot to look down before zoning out. But what shocked her was what came out of her mind. 'How are you today ma'am?' Lena was taken aback, worried that the bracelet would be a burden, hearing everyone's thoughts. None of those "l am going to ground these kids for running like crazy" or "did l remember to take my vitamins this morning" or "even the covergirl for this month's nude mag was so hot". Just this one girl. 'She won't know we're thinking to each other. Just think of a greeting for me, you know as common courtesy at least?' Ok, hi?                      'Come on, l know you can do better than that. I don't bite and if you say hi, l'll fully introduce myself with a courtesy and all.' Ok, hi. I'm Lena. 'I'm Madam Victoria Montega Alonzo Tobias Jones The First.' She stood up while thinking this and did a mock tip of her hat, even though there wasn't any. Long name you have, uh, what was your name again?

'Don't worry about the name. It's just a joke. I don't even know what it is. Just call me Wolve, you know like wolf. Only my nickname is way more original and hipper than the word. Am l right?' Ok, well it's nice to meet you Wolve. Can l ask you something?

'Yes, Little Miss Lena. Fire at will. How come you can hear my thoughts and respond to them?

'Uh, you're new to the whole thought game and... oh, you have a think brace on. She's always got that so she can hear what we're thinking. That way, she can just call us wild dogs as per fucking usual. Did she already ruin the secret of vampires and the whole self-story of her being a hybrid crap yet?' I wouldn't say ruined, but yeah. She told me about vampires and that he's a hybrid and...

'Why don't you ditch that girl and we can go for a real burger instead of some McDonalds rip off brand? And, l'm less colder than she is. And l also make good jokes.' By then, she was cheekily smiling, flashing her perfect white teeth to her.

'It's good to see some things never change, huh pup?' Cody had returned with a tray full of wrapped burgers, large filled to the brim fries and cups of thick cola. Her facial expression wasn't the happiest, like she knew and didn't like this Wolve girl. She slammed the tray down and sat across from Lena, back turned to Wolve. 'Wow, it looks like you, my little fangbanging enemy, never changed, even after you were shown by Demetrious. Did that happen again today and you're pissed off because you couldn't get enough in you? Or is that meant to be out of you.'

'News flash, dog boy, Demetrious is dead and...' 'Really, because he just text me asking where the fuck you and your imaginary girlfriend were. But, between me and you, she doesn't look your type. Little Miss Lena, why don't you come hang with me. My thoughts are less grim and way more fun than Little Mrs.Fangfucker over there.'

'Hey dog shagger, why don't you shut the fuck up before l show you who's the better species and oh, l forgot, dogs only count as pets.'

Come on, why don't you guys chill. Stop it, you two. Now!

'And so she has a voice and a powerful one at that.' 'In your wildest dreams, pet.'

'Oh, l plan on being wild with her in future. Let me tell you a word of advice- if you ever need me for anything, just say my name. I'll be there, no matter what, whether it's to be your shoulder to cry on when he gets you killed or it's even for something more... let's say private.' Wolve winked at Lena, who was feeling her cheeks burning. She was blushing and she felt completely embarrassed about that. 'Fuck off dog; you aren't supposed to be here. Remember, tribe and clan rules. But, your ears must have hung too low to hear it so let me remind you in a way that even you can understand.' 'Stake it away, hybrid.' Cody almost growled at the remark, she mustn't have liked that one. 'When your grandfather signed the treaty with us, he promised to never set foot on our side and that goes for all of you. Also, l can name at least three others who are here hiding.' 'Oh, boohoo. I am shaking in my fucking sneakers. Lena, what do you make of this?'

I don't know, but maybe you should leave so you don't get yourself hurt? Lena was confused. Just 48 hours ago, her life was perfect. No dramas, no worries. Now she was worrying about supernatural decisions? 'I'll leave, but if Lena leaves with me, you can go back to banging the blood whore in the cellar. If she goes with you, then l'll still be supportive with limitations. Lena, it's your call.' 'Think about this Lena, long and hard. Do you want to hang with a furry dog like...' 'Hey, this isn't a battle. This is a decision- her decision. Let the lady decide, fangbanging fuckwit.'

Lena was so confused, but in the end she choose...
