Help Him!

Spot's POV

I watched as she woke up earlier than everyone and stretched out. She must think everyone was asleep cause she got changed right there but luckily she kept her pajamas on like everyone else.

"Colt watcha doing" Miller mumbled

"Getting dressed now let's get ya dressed too, huh " she whispered to him

By now most of the boys are starting to get up and some get dressed.I keep watching her as she finishes tying his shoes and starts getting Thicket dressed. I get up and also start to get dressed and head downstairs with the others .

"Ya boys wanna sell with me ta day" Colt says to the two younger boys

"Yeah sure" they say

"It's windy out there " Jack said running inside

"Well we better stay warm , I'll cuddle with ya Sullivan come on" Blink said picking her up i wonder if she's blinks girl

"No no no I'm gonna sell me papes now if ya excuse me I gots ta go" she say with a grudge walking over to the boys " pull ya sleeves down " she tells 'em

I hear runnin' and then someone jumps onto my back " uh someone ate to much last night" I say as I fall on the ground .

"That's because this someone has two other people on top of him" I hear Skittery say

"Who... No first get off" they all get off and I see its Mush and Leaf

"Come on Leaf you comin' with me" I tell him

We all walk up to the distribution center and buy our papes. We start to go our separate ways when it starts to lightly rain.

"Come on" I say to a Leaf pushing him forward

Colt's POV

It starts to lightly rain as we walk our separate ways.

"Colt wait up" I hear Owen call

I turn around to see him jogging over to us. " Can I join you" he asks

"Well if we split up we can get more money , so Miller and Owen go together and me and Thicket together" I say

We split up and I walk to the corner were the bakery is located

"Ok remember what I taught ya expand and improve the truth got it" I tell him

"Got it" he says smiling

"Alright let's do this" I say giving him a high-five

"TROLLEY STRIKE KILLS 10" I shout

Sure it says trolley strike drags on for week 10 but expand and improve . We kept this going until I sell my 100 papes and Thickets 50 papes . I turn around to see Miller running towards us shouting my name.

"COLT!!! COLT!!! HELP!!! HELP!!!" He shouted

"What's wrong kid calm down what's wrong!" I tell him

I see now he was crying

"It's Owen the scabs got 'em ya have ta help!!" he says in panic

"Are they still there" I ask now I'm panicking

"No some of the newsies heard my shouts and rushed over and they went away. Jack told me to come get ya!" he says

"Alright where is he"

"In a large alley by the Brooklyn bridge"

If he had anything else to say I didn't hear. I start to go in full sprint only stopping when a cart almost ran me over.

"JACK...JACK WHERE ARE YA...JACK"i scream checking every alley

I see Mush ahead of me and start running to him

"Where is he where's Owen!?!?" I shout looking in the alley next to us

"Come on" he says grabbing my wrist

What I see stops my heart. Half of the Brooklyn and Manhattan newsies crowd around someone who I bet my money on I Owen

"Owen" I say

All the boys part aside for me and I walk through the line they created. I start to gag at all the blood on the floor and I don't even see Owen yet. I think my heart really did just stop cause I now see where the blood comes from.

"W-W-What happened" I say stuttering a little

"Got ganged by oscar and Morris" Jack said

"Well then let's pick him up , get him home I'll fix 'em up there" I say standing up

No one walked up to help

"I Said Pick Him UP" I say in a demanding voice

Jack walked forward and slipped his arms under Owen and we fast walked the short way home with almost every Newsie behind us.

Once we get a half a block from the lodging house I start sprinting to it . I go up to a table that some boys are playing cards on and sweep it clean.

"HEY!?!?!" they shouted , I completely ignored their protests

I went to a cabinet and jumped up trying to grab an extra sheet to lay on the table. After ten jumps I felt someone lift me up and I grabbed the sheet .

I turned around to see Race " thank you , now lay this down on that table"

I start sprinting up stairs to grab the med kit and run back downstairs .

"Alright I need a cloth and warm water , lay him down here Jack" I say as Mush hands my the water and cloth

I take his shirt off to were all the wounds are . He has multiples cuts and scratches , bruises , and a few deep wounds . I start to wipe up all the blood with the water and cloth. I then grab a needle and thread and start to stitch him up. Once I'm done with the stitching I bandage them up and go to the smaller problems . When I'm done I see all the boys looking at me like I have ten heads.

"What?" I ask

"It's just that your well your crying" Skittery says

I never cry and I didn't realize I was until now.

"No I'm not" I say quickly taking the heel of my hand and wiping my eyes.

"It's alright to cry about this Colt" Les said

"Yeah kid"i said turning away from him and going upstairs
