Chapter 7

                                                                             Ch 7

The small group pulled up to the prison and waited as Carl and Carol opened the gate for them drive though. Everyone walked up to the car as Rick was the first one to get out and opened the door for Hailey; while Glenn did the same for Hershel.

Rick looked around before speaking up, "Let's get inside."

Sighing Hailey followed the group into the prison to Cell Block C, knowing the bad news Rick was going to deliver. They all watched as Rick moved into his cell and picked up rifle and looked at all of them, slightly worried and maybe scared.

"So, I met this Governor." He said nodding, "Sat with him for quite a while."

"Just the two of you?" Merle asked from the back

"Yeah." Rick said softly

"Should have gone when we had the chance, bro." Merle said to Glenn and Maggie as he walked past them

'What the hell did we miss when we were talking to the Dictator, I mean Governor.' Hailey thought to herself before turning her attention back to Rick when he began to speak again.

"He wants the prison." He said looking at each and everyone of but never his sister-in-law for some reason, "He wants us gone. Dead. He wants us dead, for what we did to Woodbury. We're going to war."

Hailey knew this is what it was coming to, she could tell how they both were acting coming out the building they were talking in. There was something wrong though, something Rick is not telling them. Even after all these years she can still read his face. The group watched as Rick began to walk past them and out of the cell block. Hailey knew this was her only chance she was going to have a chance talk to Rick and left right after him.

"Rick...Rick! Stop!" Hailey yelled after her brother-in-law, "What's wrong? I know what you told everybody wasn't everything."

Rick sighed knowing she wasn't going to leave it alone and looked at her, "Get Hershel and meet me outside on the catwalk and be quiet about it, please."

"Okay." She said

Hailey went back in and moved around the cell block, finally finding Hershel sitting at one of the tables.

"Hershel, can you come outside with me for a little bit? There is something I wanted to ask you." She told him

"You can't ask me right here?" He chuckled

Hailey looked around her and saw Carol and Maggie watching; knowing that they still don't trust her yet, "Uh no, no. It's personal and I don't want everybody to hear. So do you mind?"

"Only if you don't mind helping an old man up." Hershel smiled

"Not at all." Hailey laughed helping Hershel up and get his balance

It wasn't long till they made it outside, to where they were going to meet Rick.

"Hershel, I apologize." She said

"For what my dear?" He asked a little worried

"Oh no it not anything bad, I swear. Just...I didn't really need to ask you anything. Rick wanted me to get you without everyone asking questions." She reassured him

It wasn't long till Hershel and Hailey reached the gate to the catwalk and see Rick leaning slightly against the fence in deep thought. Hailey knew whatever this was bothering him bad, for him not to hear them approach.
