Your eyes flutter open and you try to sit up. You moan and grasp your head, discovering a pounding headache. Looking around, you discover you're lying on a marble floor, in front of the doors of a massive golden castle, except it's not like any other castle on Earth. "Where am I?", you mutter, looking around. Everything seems kind of old fashioned. You close your eyes tightly, trying to remember how you got there. The last thing you remember is walking home late, and then feeling as if you were being blown away in a wind storm. You sit up entirely, ignoring the pain in your head. "There!", you hear a voice shout and the massive doors swing open. Suddenly you're surrounded by guards, but these guards were decked out in golden armor, carrying swords and spears. One of them gently helps you up. "Are you alright?", he asks. His voice has an accent that should sound familiar, but doesn't. You don't answer. "We must take her to King Odin", another guard says. The one holding your arm nods. Seeing the alarm on your face he says,"Don't worry. You're not in trouble." Then to his men he adds,"Escort her there. I must visit Heimdall to see why this mortal is in Asgard!" Asgard? Confused by all these names, you allow the men to take you into the palace and you enter the throne room. An old man with a golden eyepatch is sitting on a throne, two men and a woman beside him. The woman eyes you with pity, while the blonde man is murmuring to the one in the throne. You assume the woman is the king's wife and the two men are their children. Your eyes flicker towards the man with the raven hair, to discover he is watching you with interest. King Odin stands and bangs his staff on the ground. Everything goes quiet. "I am Odin, king of Asgard. Who are you?" You tell him your name and one of the guards says behind you, "She is the mortal Heimdall, the gatekeeper accidentally summoned." Odin looks down at you with regret. "I am afraid there has been a mistake", he says to you. "Our keeper of the Bifrost has summoned you from your realm. Unfortunately, it will be impossible to send you back." "What do you mean?", you ask suddenly feeling cold. "Father, I have to disagree", the oldest son tells him, his voice booming like thunder. "And why is that Thor?" "There is a reason mortals don't know we exist. Why should she be any different?" Odin stands and crosses over to Thor. "Because she will not be able to go back", he tells him. Thor looks as if he would like to argue, but backs away. Turning to you he says,"Loki, take (y/n) to her chambers where she will be staying from now on." Loki turns to you and grins. "Shall we go?", he takes your hand and exits the throne room. You turn your head, trying to prevent him seeing the tears streaming down your face.
