Chapter 5

I watch as more than half of the class speeds ahead of me. I see Noah run ahead of everyone else in our class. Agents at the FCA have to be able to run a four and a half minute mile so obviously, he is leading the pack.

I've never liked to run nor have I ever been good at running. This two mile rout around the school is the only run that I like. I used to like the run around my neighborhood until that guy started following me. The change of scenery is the best part of my runs though. I hate running around tracks but this I can stand.

I run down the hill onto the outside of the baseball field, I start to wonder why Noah is so ok with being my bodyguard. You would think that any guy would hate to bodyguard some girl. He isn't allowed to leave my side. So why would he like this assignment?

I look around and I can see a couple of my classmates but not many. I finally get some time to myself. Time without Noah being near me. I smile to myself as my breath starts to quicken.

I watch my steps as I run along the gate on the baseball field. I used to run this rout a while back before I decided I would rather run closer to home. I know this rout so well. Some days when I would run there would be softball or baseball players on the field. I always hated that because it made me feel really self conscious about how fast I ran.

I shake my head as I push the thought out of my mind and try to focus on something else.

I finally get to run without a creep following me! That's a bonus!

I run back up the hill leading off of the baseball field and start heading up the street. I watch as different cars go by until I see one in particular that I remember and all of the sudden I quicken my pace. This car looks really familiar. But they pass so I slow back to my original pace.

I see other cars past me as I run along the part of this run next to the street. This is the reason only high schoolers are allowed to run this rout. The teachers are scared that middle and lower schoolers will get hit by a car.

I look behind me to see if there is anyone close to me but I see no one. I do see a car though. A car that just passed me about a minute ago. How are they already behind me?

I start to panic as I think about the route that this run takes you on. In about two hundred yards, you run off of the road and around the upper school.

I speed up to a near sprint towards the upper school. Why is it always when I am running that he finds the need to drive near me. I can hear the car getting closer and closer to me. I look strait ahead and go into a full on sprint.

I am about half way to the school and now the car is next to me. I am terrified and want to look over to see the face of the person that has been stalking me. I try to look but the voice in the back of my mind knows it's a bad idea to look at who is next to me.

All of the sudden the car speeds up and goes onto the sidewalk about 10 feet away from me. A man in what looks like his thirties jumps out of the car. He has dark brown hair that is short and is styled around his face. He has a sharp jaw line and looks extremely fit. He is wearing a black Under Armor shirt with black sweatpants and tennis shoes. He has on black sunglasses too.

I notice that I have stopped and am just standing on the sidewalk staring at him. I start to walk backward as I realize that I need to get away from this man. But, he starts walking towards

me faster than I am walking away from him. Terror stars to fill my body as I turn on my heels and sprint the way I had come.

My head starts to pound and my breathing gets very quick. I can't sprint flat out for very long so I know I am about to slow soon.

I can hear the mans steps getting closer and closer to me. I start to panic and I start trying to run faster but my feet just can't move that quickly.

Suddenly hands wrap around my waist and pull me to a stop. I try to scream but I can't. I am so tired that I have to try and catch my breath and I pant. I find a small enough amount of energy to start kicking and wiggling my body to try and get out of his grip but he doesn't loosen his grip a bit. He wraps his arms around my waist and squeezes me so tightly that I can barely breath.

He gets to the car, opens the passenger door and slides me into the car. He then takes out two pairs of handcuffs. I try to kick him but he deflects my kick and puts on pair of handcuffs on my hands. He then takes the other pair and puts one of the cuffs around the middle of the pair that's already on me. Then he takes the other cuff and handcuffs me to the door of the car.

Now that my hands are tied, he takes a cloth that I am sure has chloroform on it and shoves it on my nose and mouth. I was right I can smell it and because of sprinting, I am breathing heavily meaning I am going to black out soon.

I feel light headed as I see my kidnapper take of his sunglasses to expose his emerald green eyes before everything goes black.

Noah's POV

I run ahead as everyone trails behind. I know I can run this in less than ten minutes. At least it means ten minutes where I don't have to watch over Amber.

She is really pretty though. And she is fun to be around. At least I am not stuck body-guarding some stuck up person. Amber seems really easy to talk to and be around. Well, once you are on her good side. How am I going to do that though? Agent Jack said she has always hated bodyguards. Great.

I hope she doesn't try to run away. I really don't want to be stuck tracking her down. Plus Agent Jack would be really angry if I were to lose his niece.

I keep my breath at a constant pace as I keep up running. It's pretty cool being able to run this quickly. Even though the training to be an agent sucked, actually being able to do everything I have been taught is awesome.

I wonder if Amber knows how to fight. She seems to be unable to run like an FCA Agent but since her uncle is one of the best Agents, maybe he has taught her self defense. Especially since she seems to be in extreme danger.

And does the school know that she is in danger. I should probably ask Agent Jack if the principal or the teachers are aware of what is going on at the moment.

I am half way done already. Sweet. It's too bad we can't listen to music. So instead I just allow my mind to go blank and relax for the rest of the run.

I finally finish with a time of nine minutes flat. Perfect. I walk into the gym to get water since I am the only one finished and will be the only one for a couple more minutes. I might as well sit down and wait.

I watch as everyone starts coming in one at a time but no Amber. Even Ellie has come in and Amber beats her every time. Where could she be?

Everyone has come in now. Everyone except Amber and it has been thirty minutes. She never takes this long. What could have happened to her? Maybe she sprained her ankle or something. I should probably go try and find her either way though.

"Hey Coach, do you want me to go see if I can find Amber? Maybe she got hurt or something."

"No. We will have a coach go and try to find her. You can go get changed though."

I nod my head in agreement and head off to go get changed. Where could she be?
