It is so hot! Liz thought. The guys were outside at the pool, and she was in the kitchen. Checking one last time that she was alone, Liz slipped off her over-sized sweater. The cool air felt great on her arms and neck. Liz leaned against the counter, relishing in the breeze when she heard the patio door suddenly open.
She almost got her arms covered before Niall saw the bruises.
"What the hell, Liz?!" he screamed. She froze and saw Niall looking at her bruised scarred arms. She quickly pulled her sleeves down over her arms and hands.
"What the....?" Liam said, rushing to the house.
It was all Liz could do to get her bearings before the guys were there. She looked at her five brave protectors, quickly trying to think of a story she could tell, a lie to make it go away. Now Liz found herself crying, clutching her sweater in an effort to hide her body. "I have to go" she gasped, turning towards the door.
Niall blocked her path and, when she didn't fight him, led her to the couch in the living room.
Gently pushing up the sleeve of her sweater, Niall turned her arm to show the bruises. "What's going on?" he asked.
"Is that why you won't ever take off your sweater?" asked Harry asked
"Or go swimming" asked Liam.
"Or hug" asked Louis.
Liz took a deep breath and tried to decide what to do. She knew she would have to tell them eventually, but she had hoped it wouldn't be until after they had all left again. She practically felt them getting angry as she searched for the right words.
"No one is hurting me" she said slowly and clearly. Looking into the eyes of each friend, she pointed to her arm and repeated "No one is hurting me"
