Prologue

''Ahhh!" I awoke to the sounds of someone being beaten in the streets. This is the second time in two days. I rushed into my mothers room as I found her awake as well. She whispered, "Get your sister and go into the cellar," A tear ran down her smooth olive skin. " Make sure you lock yourselves in, and do not make a sound. They're coming, and I can't let them hurt you or your sister."

I rushed into my sisters room as I found my sister, Teran, sound asleep like she hasn't even heard the scream's and cry's of innocent people. I envy her. Then I remember what my mother told me, I shake Teran as hard as I can until I see her pale blue eyes flicker open signaling she is awake. She asks, "What's happening." and I reply, "They're here." I hear a soft sob come out of her. "Lets go" I say as I jerk her out of her bed

.

On our way to the cellar I grab my pistol from my closet. Then, when we get to the cellar I push the heavy, old Greek rug that keeps the hidden cellar a secret to the unknown and unwanted, out of the way to unlock it with the rusty key my father gave me before he died. I allow my little sister to climb in first. Then I jump in, and lock it. After a few moments of waiting I hear something being dragged. as if on cue, my mother whispers "Just pulling the rug over the cellar. Be safe and I love you girls. Never forget that. Do you hear me?" Teran and I reply in sync, ''Yes." but Teran says something more, " Wait, mother? Does this mean you're not coming back?" A tear slips from her pale blue eyes as her long scattered brown hair gets mangled into the tear. "Yes, please take care of each other, I love you both. So, this is goodbye until then." I hear my mothers footsteps begin to fade away. Then, a loud shatter sounds upstairs, and an ear shattering noise erupts from the floor above me. I know it was a gun, and I know my mother just died.

"Search the house!" is all I hear before everything goes black.

A/N I just wanted to dedicate this to @opulence_ because she made me this awesome cover to get me started. Thank you so much.
