"You're not going on tour Nisha! We won't be able to watch you," Micheal protested. I shook my head. "Then don't watch me," I mumbled. Micheal stepped in my pathway. "You need to be watched though.l! Don't you understand?" I looked at Michael in our matching eyes. He was treating me like a child and at the moment I might've been acting like one. There was so much I wanted to explain to my brother right then. The words sat between us, going unheard. Micheal still had the same look on his face. I shook my head again then walked away.
"Nisha! Come back,"he called.
"Just go back to the hotel!"
Michael's head hung low as he turned in the other direction. I continued to venue entrance in anger. I swung the door open only to he met by Zo. He smiled at me with the greeting," Hey Nisha! How's it going?" I bit my lip. I wanted to tell Zo but at the same time I didn't want to bombard him with my problems. "Nothing. I just need to get VidCon over with it." He looked at me puzzled. "Why? This is so much fun." I scoffed before saying," No it's not. My brothers are taking the fun away and Claire is stressing me out." Zo squinted his eyes at me. " Girl only you can take the fun out of your own experience. And don't worry about Claire anyways. She is going on Messy Monday first thing."
"What's Messy Monday," I curiously said.
Zo gave me a big smile. "You clearly haven't had tea yet."
I shot Zo a confused expression. "I've had tea before. What are you talking about?" He laughed then lightly threw his hand on my shoulder." Just watch my broadcast every Monday."With that being said Zo walked away.
I went into the building to see no one around. The area was silent and a lot eerie. The chairs were all knocked over along with clothes everywhere. "It looks like a tornado had a fucking party in here," I quietly chimed to myself.
"You shouldn't be in here," a voice said.
I spun around to see a tall blonde behind me. She wore black high waisted shorts and a grey crop top." What happened in here?"
She shrugged. "Claire lost it! She was on the phone crying then turned to scream at the dancers. Claire threw clothes everywhere then knocked all of the chairs over. That's what a dancer told me anyways."
"Woah," I cooed.
The blonde girl nodded then said," I feel bad for anyone who has to deal with her." She stuck her hand out and went," Hey! I'm Maddie Wellborn." I took it and replied with,"Nisha. So do you know what the dancers are supposed to do for the third dance?" Maddie shrugged once again. "I think they are all just going back to their hotel rooms for now. You should probably go take some photos. Alot of people were sad they didn't get a picture with you."
"Oh. You know I dance on YouNow?"
Maddie nodded with a smile." Yes! I watch almost every broadcast. I'm from YouNow also."
"I'm sorry. I don't watch other broadcasts," I said feeling a bit bad. Maddie's smile shrinked but stayed. "No big deal. Do you want to go into the lobby and meet some people?"
My fingers found comfort in each other again. I agreed and walked beside her to the lobby. The lobby was the same as before but a third of the people were gone. Maddie peered down at Mt hands then grabbed them. "Are you okay?" I froze in my path and looked at her. "Y-yes?" She looked through my faulty answer before giving me a warm smile. Her hands released mine. "They're a little rowdy, I know. The supporters are very...excited. Just smile and sign some stuff," Maddie suggested. I nodded feeling a small part if relief. Someone ran up to Maddie and automatically wrapped their arms around her waist. Maddie didn't hesitate to hug them back. The supporter's eyed shotto me with a frown.
"I don't think you're all that great of a dancer," she blurted out.
I swallowed the oxygen surrounding me." I just dance the best I can."
The supporter rolled her eyes, snapped a photo with Maddie then walked away. Maddie turned to me. "That was rude of her to say. Trust me, you dance well."
Maddie's last word stuck with me. Well. I understand that wasn't an insult but I thought I'd do better than well. Honestly, that didn't sit alright with me. "Maddie if I'm not dancing anymore tonight I wanna go back to my hotel." She gave me a sad look. "Are you sure?" "Yes." I turned to the back entrance of the stage.
The sky was dark and empty but the air filled with the sound of cars and voices. The front of the venue had grown lifeless with no one around. I sighed at the scene and began my walk to the hotel.
The people walking around me seemed so rich yet unimportant. They all wore something expensive just because they had something to spend. I sped my walk up through the wealthy crowd.I reached the hotel in what felt like no time. The lobby was scarce with people an also silent. I went straight over to the elevators. Elevator music faintly played in the background as I went up. This was the same elevator I first saw Nick in. I replayed the moment in my head until I reached my floor.
"Finally you're back! Kendrick wanted me to go find you," Chris spewed.
"Well I'm here now. The last dance for today didn't happen. But the four of us need to talk," I cooed.
Chris held the door open which I swept right past. I came in to see Kendrick pacing and Micheal trying to calm him down. Kendrick 's angry eyes caught mine. He gritted his teeth as he stomped toward me. "Where have you been?! Did you just plan in going wherever without telling us?! I'm calling Mom and Dad! You're not about to just do whatever," he yelled. I, for the first time, gave a nonchalant attitude toward him. Kendrick smirked and put the phone on speaker.
"Hello," my Mom's African accent greeted.
"Mom your daughter has lost her mind!"
"What did she do? Are you just overreacting again," she calmly asked.
Kendrick scoffed." No! She won't listen to me. It's like she doesn't care that we're in charge!"
"You aren't in charge of her! I'm tired of you believing that! Put her on the phone,'' Mom's voice rang.
Kendrick shoved his phone at me." Hi Mother," I said quietly." Don't mind your brothers. Are they bothering you? Do you want them to stay?" I looked around at the three of them." I want to do this alone," I responded. Chris shrugged then strolled over to his suitcase while Micheal looked sad. Kendrick balled his fists up and snatched his phone from me.
"Mom we are not-," he loudly said before being cut off.
"Hello? Kendrick? What is all of this about," my father's Korean accent echoed.
The three of them stood up straight then cleared their throats. Chris quit packing and let his eyes aim at the phone."Nothing Dad! We just don't think Nisha should be alone on her VidCon trip," Kendrick weakly explained."You're sister is fine! Your mother said come home so you all come home," he demanded. "It isn't your job to watch Nisha 's every move!"
Kendrick's eyes were filled with fire. "Fine." He hung up the phone, hitting the screen a little too hard. Kendrick stood over me. "Don't think just because they're making us come home that this is over. I won't let this go! And if I find out you've been near that Nick guy both of you will regret it." My attitude , still careless, didn't match my face. " Just pack up for your way back home already," I clarified. Chris pulled Kendrick away toward the pile of suitcases. Micheal pursed his lips at me and went with the other boys.
