Short chapter, sorry. :b
Chapter 6
ANDY'S POV
"Get the hell out. I don't want you here," the man said, pulling a small pistol out of his pants. It was the man in the picture.
"Hey, hey! Wait a minute! Can't we just talk about this?" Danny tried to compromise, putting his hands out as if to shield himself.
"No! I said get the hell out! This is my house!" The man swung his gun around.
This place is perfect. It has protection, the fences. Food, the well-stocked kitchen, and it just seems like a place we could call home. "We need to do something," I thought.
"Sir, I knew your daughter," I started, hoping I was doing the right thing. Danny made eye contact with me, showing that he thought I had made a bad move. The man pulled his gun down, and pulled a look of sadness across his face. Then his face went serious again.
"So what?! She's gone! Nothing either of us could do about it!" He pulled up his gun again. "I said get out."
"It's okay sir, I know what you're going through. I lost my family too. They were torn apart by those nasty monsters," I tried to comfort him.
The man started to cry. "It-it isn't fair. This kind of world we live in. You take advantage of all the good you have, but it always, and I mean always, gets taken away from you." He pushed his body to the ground, sitting on his knees. "I'm tired of it. I'm tired of losing everything. It isn't fair. It isn't- it just isn't fair. Why do I even try anymore? There's absolutely no point, no point at all. I want it to end. I want to be with my wife and kids." He slowly pulled up his gun, muzzle to his head.
"No! Stop!" Danny tried to jump towards him, and force the gun out of his hands. But it was too late. The man pulled the trigger, and his body hit the ground with a thump.
There was a moment of silence. Danny was on the ground, next to the man's body, with a face full of shock. I was speechless. This man just committed suicide right in front of me. And it's all my fault. I shouldn't have brought up his daughter. We should've just left.
Danny got up, "Come on, let's go get the others to help burn this body." He didn't give me an option. He just walked off back towards the door.
"Burn?" I asked, without receiving an answer.
