Chapter 3
ANDY'S POV
I felt as if I couldn't move. They were everywhere. All I could hear were those nasty, lifeless footsteps. There were probably about 75 of them. They came out of no where. Mike's eyes were watering. We both forced ourselves to run. We banged on each and every house. "GRAB A WEAPON. WALKERS ARE EVERYWHERE." People started coming out of their doors, each showing a different kind of face full of fear. Towards Quinn's house, I stepped over Elisa's dead body. She's going to come back. I knew what I had to do. I forced my knife threw the top of her forehead. Tears ran down my cheeks. I pulled out the knife and forced my girlfriend's door open. "Quinn! Terra! James! Get up!" I ran into Quinn's room. "Quinn, they're ev-everywhere." I was crying. I guess she's been prepared for this because she grabbed an axe from under her bed. "You're gunna fight?" I asked her showing concern. I didn't want to lose her. "We have too much here. I'm not ready to give it all up." She clutched her axe and walked out of the room.
I ran right after her, knife in hand. Everybody was outside. Fighting. The next sight I saw was heartbreaking. Cameron was kneeling on the ground, holding on to her mother's hand. A dead walker was laying next to them. Tears forced down her face. It wasn't long before her mom started to move again. She clutched Cameron's arm. No, No! I ran up to Cameron and pushed her away just as her mother began to crave her flesh. She was crying her eyes out. I stabbed her dead mother's head. I grabbed Cameron and squeezed her with my arms. "Get inside a house. Go now." Her sobbing was attracting more walkers. "Please Cameron. Go. GO!" She got up and ran to a house. I turned around to see what I was up against:
I saw Mike swinging his knife into a walker's head.
Quinn with her axe. My badass girlfriend.
Mr. Fernandez, shielding four kids. I knew three of them by name: Bobby, Susan, and Caitlyn. They were all 7 to 8 years old. The other kid was younger than the others. His body was trembling with fear. That got my attention. I ran towards him. "Let's get these kids into the house." As those words left my mouth, a large walker dug his rotting teeth into Caitlyn's neck. "NO!" Mr. Fernandez cried. I flew my knife into the walker's eyes. Blood splattered onto the other kids. Another walker grabbed Caitlyn bloody body. More walkers came towards us. "Get to the house. Now!" I yelled at the teacher. He escorted the kids to the house.
Walkers were scattered in every place possible, but their number seemed to be shrinking. More bodies were on the floor than the walkers who came. We must've lost a lot of people. I can't tell for sure because it's dark out here. For some weird reason, the street lights still work so that makes it easier for everyone to fight. I noticed Quinn becoming tired of swinging her axe. She was with her parents. I bet she's the only person on the street with a complete family.
Mike was shielding his body behind a house. What is he doing? That's when I noticed it. Three walkers were staggering towards him. No, no. I was not ready to lose my little brother. I glared at the walkers then back at him. The street lights reflected off the tears streaming down his face.
"Andy! Catch!" Quinn commanded as she threw her axe at me. I guess she was well protected with her parents surrounding her.
The walkers were becoming closer to Mike. Where was his knife? Almost right after I thought those words, I spotted his knife in a walker's chest. This proves the point that the only way to kill them is with a headshot.
One walker heard my footsteps, and turned to face toward me. I froze. This walker looked so familiar. Where have I seen her from? Her rotten face makes it pretty hard to describe. No time
to think. I held the axe in the air over my head, and swung it down. It cut right through the middle of the top of her head. She collapsed to the ground with a loud thump.
"Andy, hurry!" Mike needed my help.
I pulled out the axe and ran towards the other two as they made more progress towards Mike. They were getting too close. I gripped the axe. Aimed. And I threw. Perfect hit. Both walkers fell to
ground. Mike couldn't believe what he just saw. His eyes wide, he forced himself up. He gave me a hug.
"We got other people to protect. Come on Mike," I told him. He turned that very familiar walker's body around and pulled the knife out of her chest. The sound made me flinch. We ran to Quinn and her family and made a circle. No walker could get through us now.
