Chapter One
Magnolia High
"Lucy... Lucy!" I jumped as I snapped out of my day dream. "Welcome back, how was your trip, space cadet?" My friend, well best friend Levy joked. "Oh you are funny," I said sarcastically. "But are you ok?" My other friend, Juvia asked. "Yeah I am fine," I said focusing my attention back to the teacher. But I wasn't ok. I was angry, confused and over all, fed up. I was tired of the bullying and last night just went too far.
Levy, Juvia and I had just finished studying at the library and we're headed back to our dorms. At our school during the academic year you stay in dorms. The girls have one building and the guys have another. Seniors have the option to either live in the dorms or rent an apartment near by. We were in our senior year, but decided it would be best to save money and live at the dorms. On the way to our dorm I had a feeling when we left the library we should've left sooner, but that couldn't be helped, so I didn't say anything about it. The cool autumn air felt good and we all walked in a comfortable silence. There were several footsteps that broke this silence. It had gotten late and being a school night most students should be in their dorms. We still didn't think too much of it and kept walking.
A few minutes went by and the footsteps started to get faster. We looked at each other, becoming worried. The footsteps then stopped and before any of us could react a blurred figure threw us down a side pathway. We hit the ground pretty hard. My eyesight was regaining its focus as I saw who had thrown us. It was them, Sting, Rouge and Jet. They have been bullying Levy and Juvia since middle school and then me as well when I started in freshman year. They would normally only tease and pick on us, but this time they got physical and with their magic. Jet must have used his speed magic to attack us and that was how we had no time to react. I looked next to me and saw Levy and Juvia must have been knocked out from hitting the side of the building. I looked back at the bullies and began to say, "what is with yo...", but I was cut off when Rogue using his shadow magic to kick me in the side. "Shut up you bitch!" Sting snickered, "you guys are so pathetic. You give this great school such a bad name. A water wizard, a script wizard and worst of all a celestial wizard. You can't even fend for yourself. You rely on those keys of yours. A real wizard shouldn't rely on others. It's humiliating." Sting used his light magic and I felt another pain in my side. I winced in pain as I tried to say, "leave us alone." But could only get it out in a whisper. "Leave you alone? Did you hear that boys, she wants us to leave her alone. Bitch please, don't make me laugh." More pain shot through my body from Sting's magic. The pain began to fade away as I felt the air become very warm. I saw Rogue and Sting begin to fight and Jet run off. Before I could see who they were fighting I fainted from the pain.
I had awoken in the morning in my bed and bandages on my side. When I had gotten to school I asked Levy and Juvia about the night before and neither one could remember anything after they were thrown. However, they also woke up in their own beds and had bandages on their heads. We had noticed that neither Jet, Rouge nor Sting were in school. I wondered if it had to do with the fight.
I was startled again, but this time from the school bell. I was happy to hear the bell and walked with Levy and Juvia to the school's lounge. 'What happened last night,' I thought looking out one of the lounge windows. Levy and Juvia were deep in conversation about a book our favorite author had just released. Normally I would be deep in conversation with them, but the events of the night before still bothered me. Why did they use magic against us and who were they fighting? While deep in thought I saw him walk by with his friends, Gray and Gajeel. This pink spiked haired, onyx eyed boy was Natsu Dragneel.
Natsu Dragneel was a fire wizard and one of the more popular guys in school. His friend, Gajeel was an iron wizard and Gray was an ice make wizard. I have had a crush on Natsu since freshman year. We really have never talked and I doubt he ever noticed me. I am also a celestial wizard so we haven't had many classes together.
I heard giggles and broke the concentration I had with the window. "Oh hush you two," I said, "you would be doing the same thing if you had noticed Gray and Gajeel also walked by." Juvia has had a crush on Gray and Levy has had a crush on Gajeel. "Hey guys, I am getting hungry. Want to head to the food court?" Levy asked. Juvia and I shook our heads in agreement and headed to the food court. I wasn't very hungry so I grabbed a bag of chips while Levy and Juvia went to get more dinner like food. I waited for them by the cashier and then we made our way to a table. As we walked we didn't notice one of the tables we were going to pass by had Sting, Rouge and Jet sitting at it. Levy was the closest to their table. As we made our way passed, Jet used his speed magic to stick his foot out in front of Levy and cause her to trip. Her tray went flying as she fell to the ground. She would've hit the the ground face first had it not been for Gajeel who caught her. "Yo, are you ok Levy?" He asked her. I saw her cheeks turn bright red from being embarrassed. She tried to form words, but only stuttered, got up and ran out of the food court. "Sorry," I said before running after her. I could hear as I left the food court, Gajeel rip Jet a new one not only for tripping Levy, but using magic to do so.
"Levy!" I called to her. She was sitting on a park bench on the main pathway. "Levy, are you ok?" I asked. "How could I be ok? I just made myself look like a complete fool in front of Gajeel." I saw her eyes were starting to water. Levy was one who always held her head high and did not want anyone to see her when she was down. Having Gajeel see that happen hit Levy very hard. I saw Gajeel come out of the food court, look around, saw Levy and headed our way. "Hey Levy, I wanted to make sure you were ok." He said. Levy was looking in the other direction and replied in a quiet voice, "I'm ok." Gajeel then said, "let me take you to go get something to eat." I looked at Levy and gave her the 'you should totally do it' look. She shook her head as she got up and said, "ok, thank you." I gave myself the 'way to go' grin.
"Hey Lucy, I am going to head back to the food court. Are you coming with?" Juvia asked. "No, I have a test tomorrow I should probably go study for." I said. We said bye and I headed off in the direction of the dorm buildings. I wasn't walking too fast because honestly, I really didn't want to study, but knew I had to. It wasn't too late yet, but it was mid autumn so it was already dark outside. I was on the main pathway, which was well lit, so walking by myself didn't bother me. The air felt strange tonight for some reason, but I just shrugged it off thinking it was just everything I was thinking of before still bothering me. Still walking in my slowed pace I started to hear what sounded like mumbling. I stopped, looked around, but didn't see anyone. I started walking again when I heard, "Bitch! When I tell you to stop, you fucking stop!" His voice was stuttering and I knew exactly who that was. 'Shit' I thought and before I even had the chance to start running Sting used his magic and my legs gave out from underneath me. I started to panic a bit remembering last night. I tried to get up, but Sting had now grabbed on to my arm. I tried to pull away, but his grip was too tight. I was getting fed up with this bullying nonsense. It was getting old and childish. "Listen you celestial freak, when I tell you to stop, you fucking listen to me and fucking stop." The alcohol on his breath was so strong I almost vomited. Had he been drinking all day? "Now, I have not slept with a girl in a long time and I am looking for a good night and I know you won't run off. Plus you owe me for our night ending early yesterday." I tried again to pull my arm away, but he tightened his grip. I tried yelling for help, even though I didn't see anyone around. He covered my mouth before anything loud enough could be heard. "Don't you dare make any sound or I'll have to be a bit more rough with my magic." He started playing with the top of my pants and I closed my eyes. 'Crap. How am I going to get out of this' I thought. The grip he had on my arm prevented me from getting to my keys. His hand then moved up my side toward my bra. I could feel him start to pull at it when his touch suddenly disappeared from my skin and I heard a loud "what the fuck!?" I opened my eyes, felt the same warmth from the night before and saw Sting lying on the floor holding his face in both of his hands. "Who would've thought that I get to save you twice in less than 24hours." I turned my head toward the familiar voice and saw him standing there, fire in his fist.
