Taking her seat once again, Rome crossed her legs and placed her hands in her lap. There was a long period of silence between the two, the crackling of the fire the only noticeable sound in the room.
"Are you going to answer my question?"
Amori said nothing, avoiding meeting the gaze of the other woman.
"You're always like this, you know. It's like talking to a wall. Very insulting if you ask me. But you wouldn't, because you never say a damn thing!!" The one-eyed woman hissed, pounding a fist against the arm of the chair. She took a moment to gather herself, breathing in through her nose and holding it for a second before exhaling.
"Sorry, but you keeping up an act like this for so long- it's been what, six years? And you haven't even wavered slightly in your loyalty. You know I'm starting to wonder if you're actually human." She raised an eyebrow, looking the other woman up and down. "...You are human, aren't you...?"
The question actually startled Amori. Was she completely human? Maybe on the outside, but underneath the surface... "Yes, I am." She replied, successfully interrupting her own thoughts.
Rome tapped her fingertips against the chair in agitation. At least she'd finally said something. But, she wanted inside that head of hers, and she was going to have to press harder in order to get what she wanted. And, much like Arix, She always got what she wanted. Eventually at least. All she had to do was wear the other down- and then she'd break like a twig. Although, Rome had a sneaking suspicion that she would have to be a lot less kind than she was to her personal projects.
It would be some time before Arix woke up, giving her a good amount of leeway when dealing with his secretary. Perhaps some water torture was in order? Not too much physical pain- no, she couldn't have Arix throwing a fit and trying to kill her. Again. It was time to take hold of this slippery snake and finally see if she would be a problem- things were starting to take their place in the world, and she would make sure that everything was perfect for their arrival. But she was getting ahead of herself. First and foremost, she needed to deal with Amori.
And now that she had a plan of action, she smiled a wicked grin, making the other woman shift uneasily in her seat.
Rome raised a hand to snap her fingers- and was stopped as Amori's arm shot forward, gripping Rome's hand to a very painful point. She stood, pulling the other up with her.
. "What.. What are you doing??" Confusion was evident in the one-eyed womans voice, hand going limp from the amount of pressure Amori was exerting on her wrist.
"I'd prefer not to do this, but, I can't have you trying to kill me as well."
Rome was astounded. This was the most she'd heard from Amori in years. Her words took a moment to register however, and when they did, she actually felt something that she hadn't in awhile: Fear. "Wait- what do you mean?" Her voice was shaking now, her words breaking into an octave she was not used to talking in, much less questioning.
Amori suddenly twisted the other's wrist back nearly to the point of breaking. Pain shot up Rome's arm, and an uncharacteristically soft whimper escaped her throat. Now this was just embarrassing.
"Ow ow ow- now, let's not be hasty here, Amori. I'm the only one who can give Arix what he needS OW THAT FUCKING HURTS." The secretary wrenched her arm back, the other woman gritting her teeth. Suddenly she was regretting making this room soundproof, a choice that might cost her a great deal of misery and suffering. But, nothing she hadn't dealt with before, right?
Wrong. Very very very WRONG.
Amori pulled Rome close, the women almost the same height as each other, yet somehow Amori seemed taller, looming over her with her own wicked grin etched onto her face. She leaned in to where they were almost nose-to-nose and spoke very softly.
