The discovery

~Melanie's POV~

It's been almost a month since Ian and I broke up and its been really hard on me. I've cried myself to sleep every night. I still think about him almost everyday. Ever since then my life has been hell. First I lose my boyFriend over a dumb fight, then I lose my job. Yes I hated it, but it supported me, and it's the reason I was able to be out here with Ian. I got fired for taking too many sick days. Luckily my brother has been amazing and sending me money each week until i get back on my feet. And after all of this, I'm still sick! I think I caught a stomach bug a few weeks ago. I've been throwing up alot, I feel fever-ish, a little fatigued, and I've gained a few pounds since November; but thats most likely from my post-breakup binge. But for now I will try and ignore everything going wrong in my life so I can hang out with Kalel this afternoon. I haven't seen her since the night of the break up. We're going to a reaturant then shopping at the mall afterwards. I get there and immediately see Kalel, she sees me as well. We run towards each other and hug as tight as we can.

"Mel I've missed you so much! How have you been?" She said happily.

"I'm doing fine, i guess" I say.

"How are you about Ian, how are you holding up?" She asked

"I'm doing great, it will still be a while until i'm over everything."

"Well, for now come on, let's forget about boys." I begin to walk but she stops me. "Have your boobs gotten bigger?"

"I don't think so."

"Okay just me then." We enter the resturant and wait in line to be seated. Oh no, my stomach is in knots from all of the different food scents. "Melanie are you okay?" Do not throw up Melanie, you can't use the restroom unless you've ordered something. That's it, I can't take it anymore. I run outside and throw up in the bushes. Why does this always happen to me? "Melanie are you sick? Because we can post pone."

"No, i'm fine. I just caught a stomach bug that's all."

"What's wrong?"

"Well I've been vomiting alot as you can tell. Um I've also been really fatigued lately, and I have gained ten pounds in the past few weeks. But that's from eating nothing but chips and ice cream. Really Kalel it's just a stomach bug. I'll get over it."

"How long has this been going on for?"

"Since about Thanksgiving. I know it's been a long time but I think my stress levels are whats keeping it in my system."

"Melanie, are you pregnant?"

"No, no i'm not."

"How do you know? Did you get your period last month?"

I think back. Shit, i didn't get it last month. I don't even think I got it in November. "I thought it did." I lie.

"Just relax, I'll take you to the pharmacy and pick up a test." She drags me to her car and seats me in the passenger side. Kalel may be tiny but she has alot of strength. We pull up to the pharmacy and she takes me inside. She grabs my wrist and takes me to the "planning and protection" isle. "Now let's see which one is most accurate."

"Kalel is this really necessary?"

"Shush!"

She grabs two boxes that say "First Response" on it and takes me to the candy isle. She grabs a king size reeses and hands it to me. We go to check out and the cashier is giving us strange looks. What, has she ever seen two girls buying pregnancy tests and chocolate before? "What was her deal?" I asked while getting back into the car.
