Chrissy is, for the most part, resilient. She acts tough and tries to ignore what people tell her but when at night she lets loose. She's heard them all before. All the snarky comments, " God she's ugly, " Look at her, she's so stupid!" The sad part is she believes them. She doesn't even fight for the truth anymore. She just agrees.
Her mother, Charlotte, is a workaholic. She almost never comes home and is always out with her coworkers after work. Chrissy has learned to deal with the late nights and often cares for herself. She signs her own papers and earns her own money. She has everything a teenage girl would ever want, yet she still can't find a reason to be happy.
She spends most of her time doing homework or on tumblr. Sometimes she daydreams about Brady. Ever since sophomore year she's been obsessing over him. His thick black hair and dark brown eyes lull her into a dreamy trans. She's always pictured them together, or at least tried to, but somehow she just doesn't see it happening.
Although she hopes for happiness and love she finds herself just laying in bed and thinking about going to sleep and never waking up; but she can't even find the motivation to close her eyes.
She thinks a lot. She wonders when her mother will come back home. She wonders when she'll actually have a real mother and not just some person who comes and goes. She wonders if she'll ever feel comfortable in her own body. She wonders if this empty feeling will ever go away...
