"Its like your hair gets softer everyday!" exclaimed my one and only best friend.
"Whatever you say Crystal." I chuckled, amused by her choice of compliment. Crystal was the only company iv'e needed or ever wanted. Why would anyone want other than a childhood friend who's funny, kind, weird, pretty and smart? Well ok, not smart but average. You get the point though.
It was Friday, Damn, and we were headed to last period before we were to aloud to leave. "Hey," Crystal held my wrist and suddenly stopped. I looked at her confused. "Whats up? We have to get to class before we're late."
"Yeah, I just wanted to ask if you wanted to come over later and hang out." She said, smiling innocently. I gave her the are you crazy look, trying to process what she was saying.
"You want to to come over to your house, a few hours before night falls, and risk not getting home in one piece? I think not." I continued walking, wanting to end this conversation in a hurry, like I always did.
"But Mom misses you."She pleaded.
"Nope"
"Come on Cara, for old times sake."
"Nope, I want to get home tonight thank you very much." I answered swiftly.
"You can sleep over." She continued, catching up to me.
"Your crazy."
"Your boring."
"And your mentally challenged." I argued
Crystal paused, probably thinking about another comeback.
"And your not being a good friend." She said finally.
Dear everyone in the universe, including you aliens-who-bring-your-flying-saucers-to-earth-to-scare-the-shit-out-of-people, every choice I make in life is for the greater good. Listening to Crystal means:
1. Risking my life
And 2. Risking my sanity ( Imagine yourself in my situation, walking home in the mids of the night).
But even so, and with all these eligible reasons...
"UGHH!" I huffed, exasperated. "Things I do for friendship."
"Eaaaqquu!!" Crystal squealed, pulling me into a tight hug. "We're gonna have so much fun!"
"Just let me go"I complained, "We're already late for class because of you."
"Totally worth it" She said, her blue eyes twinkling with delight as we jogged through the hallways to the class.
"Can't wait" I mumbled, fearing the worst for myself.
