I woke up soaking in sweat and my heart beating a mile a minute. It was the dream again. The cursed night where my luck played no role in saving my little brother. It had be me, I had to be the one to survive and live alone.
I got up from bed and headed through the dark hallways with a flashlight in hand. I went to the kitchen and carefully poured a glass of cold water from the cooler; I wasn't going to take a chance with drinking bloody water from the faucet.
Returning to my bedroom, I looked at the clock.
5: 37 A.M
A little over an hour before the sun had fully risen in the sky. I wasn't going to risk my life by checking if its safe now...
Knowing that sleep would never come to me again that night, or morning, I settled down with a flashlight in hand and read some old superman comics which I already knew by heart, and wait for the clock to hit 7:30.
