Pine trees stand sentry to the Caledonian forests,
dark peridot leaves shade from the sky above.
A single animal leaps like an agile cheetah from bough to bough,
His brown pelt mingling with the darkening shades.
Black eyes twinkle and whiskers twitch,
a long tail is pulled swiftly out of sight.
Away! Leaping like a demon from tree to tree in haste,
Never ending race that the animal lives.
A game to hunt and survive the harsh world,
claws outstretched and teeth bared to kill.
Yet this hunter can be another too,
beware, for its change in stature may startle you.
A hunter yes, but an ambassador as well,
Bringing love to the species with its endearing spell.
Away! Away to the trees where it lives in its element,
away once more to a place of peace and eternal tranquility.
The pine marten leaps from bough to bough,
seeking safety and granted protection.
Away to find a place where danger no longer lurks,
away to a place where the trees are no longer shed by man.
Away to a place where the creatures are no more slain for cruelty's sake,
and away... away... away once more.
Away to a place that the pine marten only knows.
Away to the softly sighing melody that calls...
away... away... away...

Poetry and Lamentations
PoetrySome poems about nature and serene landscapes. I would call it an anthology. However, some poems are Lamentations so therefore, may be quite despairing and upsetting.
