Its been exactly four months since Chris's 4th birthday and mine and Amira's 6th month wedding anniversary. Sofia's 6th birthday was in two weeks and we were planing on throwing her a small party. I have yet to hear from Elizabeth and to be honest I don't really care anymore. I've tried to make peace with her but she refuses to acknowledge my existence or my family's.

Sighing, I get up from my seat at the training center and walk out to see the recruits training and laughing. I remember being in their position and remember the time that I had to be up at early hours of the morning to run the field whether it was warm or cold, rain or dry.

"Lieutenant Davidson" the cadets greeted as I walked through the halls, I nodded in greeting and shook hands with others before walking to the dog kennels to get Maximus so I could take him outside to run. I haven't told Amira yet but I was asked to go to Iraq. I was called back to duty two days ago and I don't know how she'll react to the news.

"Hi buddy" I murmured once I reached the  kennel filled with hyperactive dogs. As son as he saw me, Max began wagging his tail in excitement and bark going in circles making me chuckle. Unlocking the door to the kennel, I took him out and he was off. Shaking my head I follow after him to see Max was playing with another military dog named Shadow. The dog was a black German Shepard dog with the most  beautiful black coat I've ever seen and hence the name. I walked over to her trainer, who was a fellow Marine named Erin, and fretted he with a smile that she returned

"Heard you were called back to duty" she said and I nodded looking over at her to see her rubbing her arm and then back to the dogs

"They gave me a few weeks to think it through and talk it out with my wife before I make any decisions" I said and she nodded

"Still haven't told the spouse huh?" She quizzed and I sighed

"Not yet, I will once I get home"I stated and she nodded again. Changing subjects I asked how she and her family were doing which she replied with good, happy that she was home and not on active duty. We talked about other things as well before we bid each other a good night and I called Max and went inside to sign out here getting in the car to go home.

"And what did you tell them?" Amira asked after I was done explaining to her that I had been asked to go back in duty in five months. She was pissed and yelled at me for not telling hr about this before she finally came to terms that it would have been a possibility that I would be asked to go back to active duty even after I was medically discharged.

"I told them that I would get back to them with an answer because I had to talk with you and the kids about it before rushing my answer" I answered and she nodded with a sigh

"If you decide to go, how long will you be gone for?" She finally asked and I sighed

"I don't know. It could be months or even years with little to no vacation so I won't be coming home that often if I do decide to go back" I said and she nodded

"Do you want to go back,Luca?" She asked making me bite my bottom lip.

"Honestly? I miss it. I miss the thrill of being in a war zone. I miss my team and our banter but at the same time I don't. I love what I have here in the states. I have you and the kids to think about and what my departure could do to them" I answered

"Whether you decide to go back or not I want you to know that I'll support your decision. If you decide to go I'll always be here waiting for you to come back and I will always always be here for you no matter how hard it will be to be away from you and I know it'll be hard on the kids but they'll understand that their daddy is away saving people's lives" Amira said making me see why I fell in love with her in the first place. She's understanding and supportive of every decision I make whether it will cause her harm or not.
