Kat and I walked in pace with each other. After many years of walking the halls of our school from class to class, walking in a certain rhythm just became our normal. We kept walking in silence for a bit until we came to tall black carved wood doors. The carving consisted of a beautiful water like design. One carving flowed into another and there were no sharp edges or angles.
"This is theta headquarters. They deal with intelligence and gathering information on everyone on this ship. They are also our strategists and deal with political and diplomatic issues. They also run the mechanics of the ship. Theta is in charge organizing and collecting all possible data of everybody on this ship. I guess they are what some people would call the face of Lambda. They give speeches and deal with addressing the congregation at any type of rally. Lambda is the name of this ship by the way. Anyway in Theta people are taught basic survival skills and basic forms of martial arts. They don't really master any type of martial arts but they have to learn a bit. Other than that Theta is just mainly classified as our intelligence agency." Katie explained, I was surprised at how much she had already learned. Granted she had been her for a year, so I guess it wasn't that surprising in retrospect.
"You said you were a captain, are you the captain of Theta?" I asked. Katie may not be one for dealing with politics or any form of diplomacy, but she is smart. I wouldn't put it past her to be the leader of the "smart people". Katie just laughed at me,
"First off I don't like people that much to deal with these goodie two shoes! They stand by the rules and treat them as laws!" Katie exclaimed.
"Aren't they laws?" I questioned.
"That's debatable." Katie joked.
"Hey that's my line!" I protested. She knew so as well, that's why she used it. It was our own inside joke, kind of.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you had rights to words!" Katie scolded! I chuckled and raised my hands up in defeat.  " Anyway back to the tour, I'm going to make you guess which group I captain. I want to make sure your brain still works the way it used to! Meaning I hope your brain cells didn't start to die when you were sleeping" Katie joked with me.
"Oh shut up I'm still me! Come on Katie what's next?" I turned Katie by her shoulders while we were both laughing at our own stupidity. Katie started to walk down the hallway as I slightly directed or pushed her down the hallway.
"Hey hey hey, personal space!" Katie jokingly screamed at me. I let my hands up and walked side by side with her. After we rounded a few couriers and walked what felt like miles we came to a clear glass automatic doors. This place was still buzzing with people. This area was well lit up in contrast to Theta which was dimly lit and just surrounded in darkness as people were busy typing away on computers.
"This is Delta. In other words our med bay. If you get trained in Delta you have to learn surgery, study all diseases and learn how to combat them, you need to be able to spot any type of illness and diagnose it immediately. Delta teaches people tai chi and basic survival skills." Katie finished.
"I don't think I will be in Delta. I know Natalie definitely wouldn't be." We each laughed a bit but we grew sad not knowing where our friends were. "Anni would be in Delta." I spoke quietly as we stared at the doctors working to help people. Annie was kind and loved to help people. She cared about people so much, she would've been—will be a great doctor.
"She would be the best damn doctor in that place." Katie crossed her arms over her chest and stood tall and strongly. Her eyebrows slightly furrowed and her jaw jutted out a bit. Katie was was the first real friend Anni made at school. Then Natalie, Alex and myself last.
"Will be." I corrected
"What?" Katie questioned. She looked confused and tilted her head to look at me.
"She will be the best damn doctor in that place. You said would've been."
I explained my statement and Katie silently realized what she had said. I both spent another few minutes looking at Delta. I turned to Katie and said, "So, what's next?"
