When we reach these gold plated doors I knew it was Alpha. "God they already call themselves Alpha and they have gold doors how much more narcissistic can these people be?!" I inquired a bit angrily. Nobody is perfect we all make snap judgments, and my judgment was that Alpha was over privileged I don't know why I just knew.
"Well now judgy-pants aren't you always the one to tell me not to make snap judgments?" She questioned with a smirk. I decided to dodge that statement.
"Did you just call me judge-pants?" I tried so desperately to dodge the question.
"Well now look who's the one dodging questions. Nice pivot Nik." Katie laughed at me. She could read me so easily, just as I could read her.
"Ok ok back to alpha, come on give me the scoop. God I can't believe I just said that. Just give me info or whatever." I gave up on communication I'm tired. Katie raised her hands in defeat, and protest as if to say she was completely innocent.
"Fine fine. Anyway Alpha isn't as narcissistic as you may think. I mean I've met my fair share of idiots but I mean it they aren't that bad. Alpha is a group that is hard to explain. It's a secretive group that rarely takes anybody. This group has a strange initiation day. On my day they were in a crisis, some security issue and then somebody got lit on fire right next to me it was crazy." Katie rambled.
"Oh my god, did you help out or just get the hell out of there?" I was worried for Katie and the other person.
"I like how you expected me to help out. If somebody got lit on fire, hell no I am not getting involved. I ran to get so body so they could do something about it. And for the security crisis they just told me to stay out of it so that's exactly what I did. Although there are rumors that Alpha tricks people and tests them on the first day but that's just a rumor. Everybody is given a different initiation day so nobody can confirm the rumors and the people in Alpha are apparently sworn to secrecy." Katie finished.
"That or they are dicking around with us." I suggested.
"Or that but people don't like to think about it." Katie laughed. "Anyway Alpha is a bit like a mix of Kappa and Beta in the Martial arts and survivalist skills. They learn something else that is selective to only people in Alpha. My friend Terra is in Alpha. I've tried desperately to get it out of her but I can't. So you may now assume I'm not in Alpha. So here we are, guess what captain I am." She crossed her arms raised an eyebrow and waited for an answer.
"Kappa" I said confidently.
"Yes. Thank god your brain cells haven't died yet. But please, explain how you know, because I know you're dying to tell me." Katie assumed. She wasn't wrong.
"Well, you said you weren't in Alpha , and you wouldn't be in Theta because of their view on rules. You're not exactly a medic so Delta is a no. You were arrested by Beta so obviously you wouldn't work with Beta. So that leaves Kappa." I informed her. I must admit I always liked showing my intelligence. A stroke to my ego, but every once in awhile it's ok.
"Congrats on being a smarty pants, considering you're blonde." She always liked to use that jab. Truth be told I don't care, that joke doesn't bother me since Katie's natural hair is blonde.
"Well at least I wear my blonde hair with pride." I did a hair flip and strutted away a few distances then strutted back like I was walking a runway. Katie laughed and I joined her.
"Hey the doors will close in about a half an hour, we need to start our way back up to our sections. I don't think your parents will want you to get arrested the first day you wake up." Katie said to me as we started our walk back up the twisting hallways and staircases. I nodded at her and we jogged/speed walked our way back.
