Looking down, I follow the sound of leaves crunching under the man's heavy footsteps as my eyes adjust to the sudden darkness of the forest. The shadow that the man casts on the forest floor is large and menacing, resembling a beast.

Are you sure you can trust this guy?

What other choice do I have?

I suddenly realize how messed up my life is, with my family dead and my step-father abandoning me, I have no significance in this world anymore.

I feel tears start to threaten my eyes.

You've been holding in your tears for your whole life and you start crying now?

I let out a strangled sob, and tear my eyes off the ground, seeking comfort from the strange man.

"We're here" the man states, not making eye contact with me, "the proof".

I stare at the man, his long hair making him look older than his age, then turn to the source of attention.

There's a lake.

In the lake, there's a car.

The car is, quite frankly, old but the car itself is turned upside down, its windows completely gone, and the car's whole bumper has disappeared.

"Is-is this...?"

"Yes," he nods, his eyes traveling slowly to the car. "Yes, it is. Do you believe me now?"

I stare at the man, all self-pity and tears forgotten.

My step-fathers brother.

Obviously, this did not prove anything. This could all be one big lie but seeing the pain in his eyes, I knew.

But That didnt mean i still entirely trusted this man.

"Come back to the cabin," he says gesturing me to follow him, "I will explain everything there".

Short chapter but on the bright side, I will be posting more.
