By the time I reached the hospital my lungs were begging for air. My knees felt wobbly and I couldn't walk properly but that didn't bring me down because I kept running. I was greeted by a receptionist, "Susan Jones", I breathed. "Room 72" was all I heard as I fled down the hallway in search of the said room. I froze on my heels when I saw a door with the number 72. I went in to find my mother lying still, covered in white bedding and complex pipes. My heart broke at the sight of her and I began crying again.
A man in a white coat entered and told me that she had been involved in a car accident and that her chances of surviving were very slim due to her head injuries.I went out to the bathroom and, upon my return, there were at least three doctors standing over her. I had already guessed what was going on but I refused to accept it. I was optimistic that maybe, just maybe, my guesses were wrong. I felt a pair of arms engulfing me into a tight hug and that was when those three words were whispered into my ear, "We lost her", he said and all the hope I had was crushed into pieces. "No! No!", I started kicking and shouting, "Please, you're doctors. Do something!" I saw another doctor approaching with a needle in hand and that was when I felt dizzy and everything went black.
