My father walked into the house and a look of shock crossed his face.

"Ann....Alone...Boy?!" He sputtered, looking down at Oliver's embarrassed face.

"Relax, Dad. It's just Ollie. I tried to walk with my braces and I fell and-"

"You what?!"

I winced. Dad and Mom had forbidden me from walking with my braces without help.

Suddenly the twins ran into the house, Happy Meals in tow.

"Ooooh, is this Ann's boyfriend???" Cody asked, tossing his food aside and jumping over the couch.

Shane followed suit, his dark hair flopping around.

"Oh. These are the twins?"

I rolled my eyes, smiling. "I don't know, Ollie, what do you think?"

He gently punched my arm. "Haha," he said sarcastically.

Meanwhile my dad was freaking out. "Did he just punch my daughter?! What even?!"

I pushed myself off the couch and into my wheelchair. Rolling over to my father, I motioned for him to bend down and he did.  "Dad, Ollie's a good guy. Promise me you won't get out your gun. And promise that you'll be okay with us being a couple."

He looked at Ollie through his glasses for a moment and then nodded.  "I promise."

"So does this mean we're a...thing?"

I chuckled, rolling over and kissing him on the forehead. "Definitely."
