Aspenkit was curled up in the nursery, the scent of milk drifting through the air. She let out a whine, and shuffled closer to Specklefur. The queen smiled, and sweeped her fluffy tail around Aspenkit. Specklefur looked out of the nursery, and smiled. The spund of tiny paws thunping against the ground made Aspenkit look up, her eyes slowly opening. "Aspenkit!" A small grey she-cat ran into the nursery, her yellow eyes stretched wide. "The camp's covered in white stuff! That will make your adventure even better!" Aspenkit's ears perked. She remembered promising to Willowkit that they would both go together the next day. She said that yesterday. "C'mon!" Aspenkit looked up at Specklefur, her smile soft, and warm enough to melt the snow. "Why don't you go with your sister." The pale brown kit nodded, and grinned, bounding out of the nursery. "Wait for me!" At once, Aspenkit noticed her paws sinking into the snow. "Eek!" The kit scrambled away from the snow, eyes wide. "It's just snow!" Willowkit meowed. She imagined herself sinking into the snow, and she shuddered. "B-B-But I don't wanna d-" "C'mon!" Willowkit bounded through the camp, skidding to a halt in front of a den. The kit's eyes stretched wide in curiosity. "Aspenkit! Come here! Quickly!" Aspenkit stared into the snow, and stuck a paw into the snow. "B-B-But I don't wanna!" "Aww. Please!" "O-Ok.." "Just run! Really quickly!" Aspenkit nodded slowly, and crouched down. She imangined herself just streaking over the snow, not even leaving her own pawprints in the snow. Willowkit let out a laugh. "Ok!"

"Three!"

Aspenkit flicked her tail

"Two!"

Aspenkit crouched down even more.

"One!"

She was ready.

"GO!"

The pale brown kit shot from the nursery entrance, her tiny paws thudding against the ground. She let out a yelp, as she collided with Willowkit, sending the kit into the snow. Willowkit got up, and shook her fur, snow going everywhere. "That...was ok." Aspenkit scrambled to her paws, and saw Willowkit staring into the den. "Someone's in there!" Aspenkit padded into the den, and peered in. A small black tom was laying down in a nest, looking back at her with soft yellow eyes. "Are you Specklefur's kits?" They both nodded. "Well, I'm Beetlestone." Aspenkit noticed a long line of red trailing from his shoulder. "Y-You got s-so-somet-" "Yeah.." The tom grimaced. Aspenkit padded towards the tom, and sniffed his wound. "U-Uh..." Beetlestone just stared. Aspenkit meowed. "How did it happen?" He replied. "A battle at Sunningrocks. I clawed that pale brown tabby good. Sent him running." Willowkit stared, imagining herself leading a group of warriors into battle, defeating every single warrior alongside her sister. Aspenkit didn't seem to have the same spark of determination to fight like her sister. Aspenkit turned, and stared at a small bunch of herbs in the corner of the cave. "Wait." She grabbed a yellow flower, and dragged it towards Beetlestone. "Try this." "That's marigold." A dappled grey tom padded into the den. Willowkit stared. The tom noticed Willowkit, and meowed. "I'm Stonestream. How did you know Marigold would help Beetlestone?" Aspenkit shrugged. "It looked like it was useful." Stonestream paused, and nodded. "Well, you kits should be off now." Willowkit's ears flattened, and she whined. "Aww! But I-" Aspenkit shot her sister a glare. "We. We wanted to stay!" Willowkit meowed flatly. Aspenkit beamed. "Sorry kits. Specklefur would want you to sleep." Aspenkit nodded, being the responsible one. "Alright. Come on Willowkit." The brown kit padded out of the den, Willowkit behind her. They marched through camp, ignoring the purrs of the older warriors. "Aww, they're so cute, walking like that!" Aspenkit padded into the den, unlike Willowkit, who pretty much flew in. Specklefur smiled warmly at her kits. Aspenkit curled up next to Willowkit, both kits huddled next to their mother. "How was your little adventure?" She purred. "Aspenkit's going to be a medicine cat!" "W-What? No!" Aspenkit blurted. She wanted to be a warrior, helping her clan. "Don't worry. You still have a moon until you're both apprenticed. Now, sleep." Specklefur smiled softly, resting her own head on her paws, her tail around the kits. Aspenkit was about to fall asleep, before Willowkit started to snore. Aspenkit giggled, and stopped as Specklefur stirred. The small kit let out a yawn, before closing her eyes, and sleeping.

She awoke again, in a dark place. Aspenkit did not know of this place. She looked around. "Willowkit? Specklefur?" A shape began moving towards her slowly. "Willowkit? Mom?" The shape grew bigger in size with every paw step. Aspenkit froze, the shape being a black cat, with blood red eyes, and a toothy grin on its face. A ring was around its neck, sharp claws springing out from the red ring. Aspenkit let out a soft whimper, as the shape stopped. Run. The kit turned, and bounded away, eyes wide, her breathing heavy. A ear piercing yowl made her run quicker, aware of the thundering pawsteps behind her. "W-Willowkit! Mom!" She wailed. The only reply was the ground shaking. Aspenkit skidded to a halt, a huge wall appearing infront of her. The kit shivered, and relief flooded her when she saw a grey tabby cat sitting on the wall, unaware of a huge creature watching him. Aspenkit yelped as three dark shapes shot out from behind her, shattering the creature. The tabby turned, eyes wide, and meowed something to the dark shapes. Aspenkit froze, and tried to stop herself from wailing in sorrow and fear as the dark shapes ripped apart the tabby. The shadowy cats turned to Aspenkit, who started to wail loudly. They smirked, and lunged at Aspenkit, who screeched. She felt something bat her muzzle softly, and blinked, the dark place turning into the nursery, snd the dark shapes fading into Willowkit, Specklefur and Stonestream. "What happened?" Aspenkit responded with a whimper of fear, and Stonestream paused. "Another bad dream?" The kit nodded, before burying her muzzle into her mother's thick fur. "The half moon is tomorrow." Stonestream meowed. "Just keep her happy, and busy, so she doesn't think about the dr-" He stopped. "Nightmares. I'll discuss this with the other medicine cats, seeing what they think. I'll ask Aspenkit about her dream tomorrow." He padded out of the nursery, ignoring the confused looks from the awoken warriors. Aspenkit's yowls had been loud enough to wake most of the clan. Poor kit. He padded into his den, and lay down in his nest. "Is Aspenkit ok?" Beetlestone meowed. "Another nightmare." "Riverclan won't be able to sleep with this!" Stonestream couldn't help but agree. "Stonestream." "Yes?" "Can I ask you something?" Stonestream nodded. "Will Aspenkit be your apprentice? I mean, she has skills with herbs, as you saw today." "Maybe." Stonestream rested his head on his paws. "Ok." Beetlestone nodded, and curled up. "So, when will I be let out of the medicine den?" "Until your shoulder completely heals. You got a bad wound, and it must heal before you start running around like a terrified vole." "Fine." Beetlestone yawned. Stonestream closed his eyes.

"Too bad there's no cure for bad dreams."
