My full name is Clairamae Zinnia Berry. Am I an ordinary sophomore in high school? No. But I am one of nine children, daughter of Lizzie and Vaugh. My siblings are Mistiena, Indigo, Avery, Sashine, Ashton, Levi, Rosette, and Victorianne. Yes, my household is huge. I hurried home to my house. Just as I opened the door Avery tumbled across the hallway.
"Welcome home to me." I mumbled, Avery got up and pushed her long dark hair out of her face. As usual she wore her blue dress. Everyone of my family has one dress or suit to wear until we grow out of it. My dress is green satin with little embroidery. Yeah it seems old-fashion, (there's a corset), and to be honest it is getting tight. I need to ask for a new dress. I am the second oldest to my sister Rosette or Ette. My family is weird, but this is just the tip of the iceburg. "Clairamae help with Avery and Mistiena's homework!" my mom yelled, she was braiding Sashine long blond hair. "Actually mom I need a new dress." I said my mom looked at me "Look, Clairamae I know but money is tight with the ten of us." she said and I wandered away to help Avery and Misti.
I love all my brothers and sisters, but I love Ash the most. Why? Because even though he is only six, he is a freaking genius. He should be in kindergarten still, but he is in 12th grade. My family is "special" as my dad says it. You would think that my family might have a disorder or something. But, no! "No. Avery 3×4 does not equal 15. Misti Maryland is not a country." I say to Avery and to Mistiena. Suddenly I hear a ruckus in the dining hall. "No! Victorianne don't do that!" I hear my mom scream. "Look," Victorianne cried "Mommy I can make it float!" The last part I remember is a math book hurtling at me and knocking me to the floor.
I wake up about a hour later, I am still on the floor. I'm dizzy and the hard wood floor does not help. My mom is leaned on me, "Clairamae say something." she said "Um... Something." I replied, "What happened with Victorianne's book?" I asked wondering how Victorianne's math book hit me in the head. Nervously she said, "I'll tell you later..." Avery walks in the room "What's happening?" she asks. Just then a smaller book flies across the room. I grasp Avery and use her as a shield to block my face. Avery shrieks and struggles out of my grasp. "Clairamae you do not use your sister as a human shield!" my mom lectures. Out of all the the crazy things my mom has said, that, that is my favorite.
